Arthroscopic suprapectoral biceps tenodesis utilizing the subacromial locking stitch anchor (SALSA) technique.

Biceps tenodesis is an accepted treatment option for various pathologies of the long head of the biceps tendon and labrum. Many techniques have been published, both arthroscopic and open, that utilize various fixation techniques and locations of the tenodesis, yet none has been proven to be superior. We introduce a novel method, the SALSA (subacromial locking stitch anchor), an all-arthroscopic suprapectoral biceps tenodesis utilizing a running locking stitch from a double-loaded biocomposite anchor.

Primary Repair of Chronic Distal Biceps Tendon Tears.

Background: This study reports the clinical results following primary repair of distal biceps tendon ruptures more 6 weeks after injury.

Methods: A retrospective review of distal biceps tendon repairs performed by 8 different hand surgeons from January 1, 2015 to October 15, 2020 was performed. Patients with complete tears surgically treated ≥6 weeks after injury without tendon graft were included.

Could a Titanium Ulnar Shortening Plate Trigger a Metal Allergy? A Case Report.

 With the growing use of metallic implants, increased research has focused on metal hypersensitivity. The purpose of this case report is to describe a patient with a suspected metal allergy to a titanium plate and to review the literature behind this controversial topic.  A 45-year-old woman underwent ulnar shortening osteotomy for ulnocarpal abutment.

Skeletal surveys lack efficacy in obtunded polytrauma patients.

Objectives: To evaluate if a skeletal survey protocol initiated after 48 hours of intubation will decrease time to diagnosis and the treatment of occult fractures in the obtunded polytrauma patient.

Design: Prospective cohort trial with a retrospective cohort comparison arm.

Setting: A single level 1 trauma center.
