Guillian-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an immune mediated disease which is most commonly caused by infections. Symptoms are rapidly progressive and may include servere weakness of the extremities, bulbar weakness, autonomic dysfunction and respiratory insufficiens. In this review, we discuss chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), which is a disease with proximal and distal weakness and sensory disturbances resulting in impaired daily activity. The diagnosis is based on the clinical presentation and electrophysiology demonstrating demyelination in the peripheral nerves. CIDP can be successfully treated with immunoglobulin, glucocorticoids or plasma exchange, and during the latest decade, immunoglobulin has been administered subcutaneously improving patients' flexibility and autonomy.

Background: Current Danish treatment algorithms for pharmacological treatment of neuropathic pain (NeP) are tricyclic antidepressants (TCA), gabapentin and pregabalin as first-line treatment for the most common NeP conditions. Many patients have insufficient pain relief on monotherapy, but combination therapy had not been included in guidelines until recently. Based on clinical empiricism and scientific evidence, a Delphi consensus process provided a consolidated guidance on pharmacological combination treatment of NeP.
