Introduction: Vitamin D plays a crucial role in various biological processes, including the well-known regulation of the immune system and calcium metabolism. While its involvement in the surgical outcomes of various medical specialties is recognized, there is a lack of consistent data regarding plastic surgery. This study aimed to assess preoperative serum levels of 25-hydroxyvitamin D and its relationship with complications in patients undergoing reconstructive and aesthetic plastic surgeries.

Background: To date, studies on periareolar dermis release have recorded the areola sensitivity as a mean. Despite being clinically reported by patients, specific points of the areola may present sensitivities not detected when researchers only consider mean values.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the pressure sensitivity at specific points of the nipple-areola complex and compare these values with the mean value measured in the areolas of patients undergoing reduction mammaplasty with periareolar dermis release.
Background: Preservation of the periareolar dermis, after de-epithelization in reduction mammaplasty, may result in reduced nipple-areola complex (NAC) mobility. Consequently, distortion in shape and difficulty correcting the areola position can occur.
Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate NAC viability and sensitivity resulting from periareolar dermis section after de-epithelization in patients who underwent reduction mammaplasty surgery.
Purpose: To evaluate the effect of local nitroglycerin on the viable area of a prefabricated flap for vascular implant in rats, and to investigate the surgical delay procedure.
Methods: A femoral pedicle was implanted under the skin of the abdominal wall in forty Wistar rats. The animals were divided into four groups of ten: group 1 - without surgical delay procedure and local nitroglycerin; group 2 - with surgical delay procedure, but without local nitroglycerin; group 3 - without surgical delay procedure, but with local nitroglycerin; and group 4 - with simultaneous surgical delay procedure and local nitroglycerin.
