Background: Approximately 90% of current orthopaedic graduates are engaging in fellowship training, with sports medicine being the most commonly chosen specialty. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of fellowship training on clinical decision-making by fellowship-trained sports medicine surgeons.

Methods: A survey was designed to assess the importance of fellowship on common clinical decisions made in the nonoperative and surgical treatment of knee, shoulder, and elbow disorders.

Hypothesis: Neuromuscular inhibition of the infraspinatus would be greater and external rotation muscle force would be lower after a simulated game compared with pregame values.

Materials And Methods: The sample included 21 uninjured, asymptomatic high school-aged baseball pitchers. Maximum volitional shoulder external rotation strength was assessed before and after a simulated game with a clinical dynamometer.

Purpose: We examined the anatomic location of recurrences of digital glomus tumors treated with surgical excision to make inferences on the causes of recurrence.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 12 cases of glomus tumors of the hand treated surgically over an 8-year period. Two of these patients presented with recurrences after previous glomus tumor excision surgery elsewhere.

An improved understanding of cellular responses during normal anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) function or repair is essential for clinical assessments, understanding ligament biology, and the implementation of tissue engineering strategies. The present study utilized quantitative real-time RT-PCR combined with univariate and multivariate statistical analyses to establish a quantitative database of marker transcript expression that can provide a "blueprint" of ACL wound healing. Selected markers (collagen types I and III, biglycan, decorin, MMP-1, MMP-2, MMP-9, and TIMP-1) were assessed from 33 torn ACLs harvested during reconstructive surgery.
