Design and implementation of an online tool for managing the availability of high-cost perishable medicines.

Introduction: Due to their impact on healthcare systems, the sustainability and optimization of high-cost drugs is an issue of concern for several countries. Different strategies have been implemented such as centralized purchasing to optimize budgetary resources. However, there is still a need for a mechanism to optimize these drugs further.

Machine Learning Methods to Predict Lung Cancer Survival Using the Veterans Affairs Research Precision Oncology Data Commons.

We completed a pilot study to guide the development of the VA Research Precision Oncology Data Commons infrastructure as a collaboration platform with the greater research community. Our results using a small subset of patients from the VA's Precision Oncology Program demonstrate the feasibility of our data sharing platform to build predictive models for lung cancer survival using machine learning, as well as highlight the potential of target genome sequencing data.

Automatic small bowel tumor diagnosis by using multi-scale wavelet-based analysis in wireless capsule endoscopy images.

Background: Wireless capsule endoscopy has been introduced as an innovative, non-invasive diagnostic technique for evaluation of the gastrointestinal tract, reaching places where conventional endoscopy is unable to. However, the output of this technique is an 8 hours video, whose analysis by the expert physician is very time consuming. Thus, a computer assisted diagnosis tool to help the physicians to evaluate CE exams faster and more accurately is an important technical challenge and an excellent economical opportunity.
