- The study aimed to identify factors linked to active tuberculosis (TB) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) by comparing SLE patients with TB to those without.
- A total of 268 SLE patients were analyzed, revealing that lymphopenia, a cumulative glucocorticoid dose of 1830 mg or more, and treatment with two or more immunosuppressants increased the likelihood of developing TB.
- The research concluded that both high glucocorticoid use and multiple immunosuppressants significantly raise the risk of active TB in SLE patients.
