Importance: Although optic disc hemorrhage (DH) is widely recognized as a glaucoma risk factor, its clinical relevance in relation to proximity has not been investigated.

Objective: To determine the association of the proximal location of DH with glaucoma progression.

Design, Setting, And Participants: In this longitudinal observational cohort study, 146 eyes of 146 patients at Seoul National University Hospital who had had 1 or more DH with at least 5 years of follow-up and had at least 5 reliable visual field examinations were included.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to investigate changes in the Clinical Activity Score, serum thyroid-stimulating hormone receptor antibody and thyroid-stimulating immunoglobulin levels, chorioretinal blood vessels, and extraocular muscle thickness in patients with thyroid eye disease following systemic steroid treatment.

Methods: This prospective observational study enrolled 57 patients with active thyroid eye disease who received systemic intravenous glucocorticoids for 12 weeks. Relationship between the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio and the optical coherence tomographic features of chorioretina in patients with preeclampsia.

This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between ophthalmologic factors and the serologic indicator soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt-1): placental growth factor (PlGF) ratio in patients with preeclampsia using optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography (OCT-A). A total of 52 pregnant patients (104 eyes) diagnosed with preeclampsia were recruited during their hospital stay. The associations between the sFlt-1/PlGF ratio and chorioretinal measurements, including the choroidal thickness (CT), foveal avascular zone, vascular density, and ganglion cell layer+ were evaluated.

Depigmenting activities of kojic acid derivatives without tyrosinase inhibitory activities.

We synthesized benzoate ester derivatives of kojic acid with and without adamantane moiety. Benzoate derivatives 2a-e that did not contain an adamantane moiety showed potent tyrosinase inhibitory activities. However, depigmenting activity was not noted in a cell-based assay.

Vitamin E-succinate (VES) induced monocvtic differentiation of HL-60 human leukemia cells. Treatment with VES increased the nitroblue tetrazolium reduction activity, and the expression of monocyte specific cell surface antigen, CD14 and c-fms. During the monocytic differentiation of HL-60 cells that were induced by VES, the phosphorylation of extracellular signal-regulated protein kinase (ERK) was increased by 12 h and then gradually decreased to a level that was similar to that of the control.
