Article Synopsis
  • Porous acupuncture (PA) was developed to enhance therapeutic effects and comfort compared to traditional acupuncture (OA), but its clinical impact on blood flow and patient comfort was untested prior to this study.
  • In a randomized controlled trial with 21 healthy participants, PA was found to significantly increase local blood flow compared to OA, while pain and discomfort levels reported by participants were similar for both types of acupuncture.
  • The study suggests that PA may offer better therapeutic benefits through increased local blood flow without causing additional discomfort during treatment.
