This study evaluates the effectiveness of communication strategies and pain management protocols to enhance patients' experiences during sarcoma core biopsies. Recognizing the complexity and anxiety associated with sarcoma diagnoses, this research aims to assess the utility of the Invasive Procedure Assessment (IPA) tool, focusing on its ability to identify areas for improvement through Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) and Patient-Reported Experience Measures (PREMs). Conducted at two Integrated Practice Units (IPUs) within the Swiss Sarcoma Network, this study involved 282 consecutive patients who underwent core biopsies.

The urgency and importance of organizing a global effort to harmonize clinical assay validation specific to the vaccine industry was identified during the drafting of the 2020 White Paper in Bioanalysis due to the lack of clarity and regulatory guidance/guidelines in vaccine immunoassay validation. Indeed, the Workshop on Recent Issues in Bioanalysis (WRIB) issues the White Paper in Bioanalysis yearly, which is one of the high-profile articles of the Journal focused on detailed discussions and recommendations on vaccine assay validation. Since 2017, participation in the WRIB working groups by vaccine assay validation experts and regulators has rapidly increased due to its unique format where industry leaders and regulators can meet and exchange ideas on topics of interest to both groups.

Background: Intrathecal delivery of 2-hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin (VTS-270, adrabetadex) by lumbar puncture (LP) has been performed on a biweekly schedule for over nine years for the treatment of Niemann-Pick type C1 (NPC1) at Rush University Medical Center.

Methods: Over this time 59 patients with NPC1 have been treated with 2935 infusions, performed with either a 22-G 3-inch Whitacre or a 22-G 2-inch Gertie Marx atraumatic needles, with or without general anesthesia. Adverse events potentially related to the LP infusion were collected from records for all patients treated for NPC.

Mycenarubin C, a previously unknown red pyrroloquinoline alkaloid, was isolated from fruiting bodies of the mushroom Mycena rosea and its structure was elucidated mainly by NMR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Mucoepidermoid carcinoma (MEC) is the most common tumor in the salivary glands, often presenting with recurrence and metastasis due to its high invasive capacity. Metallothionein (MT), a zinc storage protein that supplies this element for protease activity, is probably related to mucoepidermoid carcinoma behavior. The fracture toughness K of 11 clinically used acrylic bone cements was studied in air at room temperature with single edge V-notched beam specimens. By driving the crack step-wise through the specimens, crack resistance curves ("R-curves") were recorded. One group of bone cements showed an increase of the fracture toughness with increasing crack length (including CMW1+G and several Palacos bone cements) whereas another group (including Simplex, SmartSet, Copal and some Palacos bone cements) did not exhibit an R-curve behavior.

Introduction: Solanezumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that preferentially binds to soluble amyloid β and promotes its clearance from the brain in preclinical studies. The objective of this study was to assess the effect of solanezumab in slowing global and anatomically localized brain atrophy as measured by volumetric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

The odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) is an odontogenic cyst that shows aggressive and intriguing biological behavior. It is suggested that a hypoxic environment occurs in OKC, which led us to investigate the immunoexpression and location of hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF-1α) and other hypoxia-related proteins. Twenty cases of OKC were evaluated for the expression of Notch homolog 1 (NOTCH1), HIF-1α, disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 12 (ADAM-12), and heparin-binding epidermal growth factor-like growth factor (HBEGF) by immunohistochemistry and compared to eight control cases of calcifying odontogenic cystic (COC), orthokeratinized odontogenic cyst (OOC), and normal oral mucosa (OM) in basal and parabasal layers.
