Indeed, the Workshop on Recent Issues in Bioanalysis (WRIB) issues the White Paper in Bioanalysis yearly, which is one of the high-profile articles of the Journal focused on detailed discussions and recommendations on vaccine assay validation. Since 2017, participation in the WRIB working groups by vaccine assay validation experts and regulators has rapidly increased due to its unique format where industry leaders and regulators can meet and exchange ideas on topics of interest to both groups.

One of the first morphogenic events in lens development is placodal thickening, which converts the presumptive lens ectoderm from cuboidal to pseudostratified epithelium. This process occurs in the anterior pre-placodal ectoderm when the optic vesicle approaches the cephalic ectoderm and is regulated by transcription factor Pax6 and secreted BMP4.

Methods: Over this time 59 patients with NPC1 have been treated with 2935 infusions, performed with either a 22-G 3-inch Whitacre or a 22-G 2-inch Gertie Marx atraumatic needles, with or without general anesthesia. Adverse events potentially related to the LP infusion were collected from records for all patients treated for NPC.
The ( ) mutant cannot make the transition from 2-dimensional (2D) to 3-dimensional (3D) growth in and forms side branch initials that are largely fated to become sporophyte-like structures. We describe the three different developmental trajectories adopted by the mutant, all of which result in indeterminate growth and defects in cell division plane orientation. A candidate gene approach confirmed that the causative mutation resided in the gene, and we highlight a previously uncharacterized role for in maintaining auxin homeostasis in .

Studies have shown a potential relationship between growth factors, metallothionein 2A (MT2A) and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) activation in malignant tumours. The aim of this study was to downregulate MT2A in cells (Cal27) derived from human squamous cell carcinoma.

Methods: An anonymous questionnaire comprising 38 questions was sent to all Austrian radiation oncology departments. Results were analyzed descriptively and compared to two international guidelines.
So far, no practicable procedure exists to quantify the orthodontic loads applied to teeth in vivo. Dentists therefore rely on experience and simplified mechanical in-vitro experiments comprising deflection of orthodontic wires. Predicting the mechanical behaviour of orthodontic wires during clinical therapy requires understanding of the different contact states at multi-bracket-wire interfaces.

The transition from water to land was accompanied by significant changes in the plant body plan, from those than resembled filamentous representatives of the charophytes, the sister group to land plants, to those that were morphologically complex and capable of colonizing harsher habitats. The moss Physcomitrium patens (also known as Physcomitrella patens) is an extant representative of the bryophytes, the earliest land plant lineage.

Like other cancers, mammary carcinoma progression involves acidification of the tumor microenvironment, which is an important factor for cancer detection and treatment strategies. However, the effects of acidity on mammary carcinoma cell morphology and phenotype have not been thoroughly characterized.

Metallothionein (MT), a zinc storage protein that supplies this element for protease activity, is probably related to mucoepidermoid carcinoma behavior. This prompted us to characterize a cell line derived from mucoepidermoid carcinoma and to correlate metallothionein expression with transforming growth factor-α (TGF-α), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs).

The fracture toughness K of 11 clinically used acrylic bone cements was studied in air at room temperature with single edge V-notched beam specimens. By driving the crack step-wise through the specimens, crack resistance curves ("R-curves") were recorded. One group of bone cements showed an increase of the fracture toughness with increasing crack length (including CMW1+G and several Palacos bone cements) whereas another group (including Simplex, SmartSet, Copal and some Palacos bone cements) did not exhibit an R-curve behavior.

The objective of this study was to assess the effect of solanezumab in slowing global and anatomically localized brain atrophy as measured by volumetric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Methods: In the EXPEDITION3 phase 3 trial, participants with mild Alzheimer's disease were randomized to receive intravenous infusions of either 400 mg of solanezumab or placebo every 4 weeks for 76 weeks.
The odontogenic keratocyst (OKC) is an odontogenic cyst that shows aggressive and intriguing biological behavior. It is suggested that a hypoxic environment occurs in OKC, which led us to investigate the immunoexpression and location of hypoxia-inducible factor 1-alpha (HIF-1α) and other hypoxia-related proteins. Twenty cases of OKC were evaluated for the expression of Notch homolog 1 (NOTCH1), HIF-1α, disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 12 (ADAM-12), and heparin-binding epidermal growth factor-like growth factor (HBEGF) by immunohistochemistry and compared to eight control cases of calcifying odontogenic cystic (COC), orthokeratinized odontogenic cyst (OOC), and normal oral mucosa (OM) in basal and parabasal layers.
