Methods: This retrospective study analyzed 295 patients who underwent pituitary adenoma surgery.
Ultrasound (US) is a widely used technique for liver disease but has limitations in distinguishing tumors. This study evaluates the clinical efficacy of fluctuational imaging (FLI), a new US method that detects the fluttering sign in liver tumors. This study was performed to investigate the use of plant-based lactic acid bacteria (LAB) to reduce microbiological hazards in kimchi. Cell-free supernatants (CFS) from four LAB strains isolated from kimchi were tested for antimicrobial activity against five foodborne pathogens and two soft-rot pathogens. Our study compared the incidence of anterior nasal septal perforation and the resulting sinonasal complications between this method and the bilateral transnasal approach.
Methods: Using a retrospective cohort from a pre-eminent tertiary referral center, we analyzed 141 cases of endoscopic endonasal transsphenoidal surgery performed between March 2018 and May 2023.
The relationship between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) has not yet been fully elucidated. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate the connection between OSA risk and CRS by investigating associations between the STOP-Bang questionnaire and presence of CRS in a nationwide, population-based study. Methods: We differentiated hiPSCs (WT (wild-type), WTC-11), GLA-mutant hiPSCs (GLA-KO, CMC-Fb-002), and CRISPR/Cas9-mediated A4GALT-KO hiPSCs (GLA/A4GALT-KO, Fb-002-A4GALT-KO) into ECs and compared FD phenotypes and endothelial dysfunction. We also analyzed the effect of A4GALT suppression on reactive oxygen species (ROS) formation and transcriptome profiles through RNA sequencing.
We generated a human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) line (CMCi014-A-78) expressing a GFP reporter in the 3'-UTR region of the KLOTHO locus using CRISPR/Cas9-mediated homologous recombination to screen for candidates regulating KLOTHO. The established cell line exhibits a normal karyotype, typical stem cell morphology, expression of pluripotency markers, and the ability to differentiate into the three germ layers. Consequently, this hiPSC line could serve as a valuable resource for screening KLOTHO regulators in hiPSC-derived target cells or organoids.

In our research, we executed a two-step transformation via oxidative cleavage of lappaconitine's vicinal diol using the hypervalent iodine reagent PhI(OAc), followed by strong alkaline hydrolysis. This approach yielded four new unanticipated compounds, whose structures were identified by spectroscopic methods and/or X-ray crystallography.
