Research on perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) has primarily focused on modulating crystal growth to achieve smaller grain sizes and defect passivation using organic additives. However, challenges remain in controlling the intermolecular interactions between these organic additives and perovskite precursor ions for precise modulation of crystal growth. In this study, we synthesize two triphenylphosphine oxide (TPPO)-based multidentate additives: bidentate hexane-1,6-diyl-bis(oxy-4-triphenylphosphine oxide) (2-TPPO) and tetradentate pentaerythrityl-tetrakis(oxy-4-triphenylphosphine oxide) (4-TPPO).

Experimental models for exploring abnormal brain blood vessels, including ischemic stroke, are crucial in neuroscience; recently, significant attention has been paid to artificial tissues through tissue engineering. Nanofibers, although commonly used as tissue engineering scaffolds, undergo structural deformations easily, making it challenging to create uniform tissue, especially for the smallest-diameter ones such as perforating arteries. This study focused on the development of a platform capable of reconstructing structurally and functionally replicated perforating arteries.

Tissue-engineered vascular conduits (TEVCs), often made by seeding autologous bone marrow cells onto biodegradable polymeric scaffolds, hold promise toward treating single-ventricle congenital heart defects (SVCHDs). However, the clinical adoption of TEVCs has been hindered by a high incidence of graft stenosis in prior TEVC clinical trials. Herein, we developed endothelialized TEVCs by coating the luminal surface of decellularized human umbilical arteries with human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-derived endothelial cells (ECs), followed by shear stress training, in flow bioreactors.

Article Synopsis
  • The study developed a clinical model using machine learning to predict late-onset fetal growth restriction (FGR) based on patient data from seven hospitals over 11 years.
  • The model utilized two sets of variables from the first and early third trimesters and showed varying levels of accuracy (AUC of 0.73 at E1 and 0.78 at T1) when trained and tested.
  • The simplified prediction model performed similarly to the original, suggesting it could help assess individual risk for late FGR in early third trimester evaluations.

Metastasis is the leading cause of cancer-related mortality. Paneth cells provide stem cell niche factors in homeostatic conditions, but the underlying mechanisms of cancer stem cell niche development are unclear. Here, we report that Dickkopf-2 (DKK2) is essential for the generation of cancer cells with Paneth cell properties during colon cancer metastasis.

Background: Regional gray matter volume (GMV) differences between individuals with mental disorders and comparison subjects may be confounded by co-occurring disorders. To disentangle the disorder-specific GMV correlates, we conducted a large-scale multi-disorder meta-analysis using a novel approach that explicitly models co-occurring disorders.

Methods: We systematically reviewed voxel-based morphometry studies indexed in PubMed and Scopus up to January 2023 comparing adults with major mental disorders (anorexia nervosa, schizophrenia-spectrum, anxiety, bipolar, major depressive, obsessive-compulsive, and post-traumatic stress disorders, plus attention-deficit/hyperactivity, autism spectrum, and borderline personality disorders) to comparison subjects.

Gouty inflammation, caused by uric acid crystal deposition, primarily affects tissues around the toe joints and triggers potent inflammatory responses. Current treatments focus on alleviating inflammation and pain using pharmaceutical agents, which can lead to side effects and complications. This has generated interest in non-pharmacological interventions, such as non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation (VNS).
