Bis Expression in Patients with Surgically Resected Lung Cancer and its Clinical Significance.

Background: Bis, also known as BAG3, has been identified as a Bcl-2-interacting protein that enhances cellular anti-apoptotic activity. It is involved in cellular differentiation, angiogenesis, migration, and invasion in various tumors. The purpose of this study was to investigate the Bis expression pattern, and the clinical significance thereof, in patients with resected lung cancer.

Serum Carcinoembryonic Antigen Levels and the Risk of Whole-body Metastatic Potential in Advanced Non-small Cell Lung Cancer.

Background: This study aimed to clarify the clinical associations between serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels and whole-body metastatic distribution in stage IV NSCLC patients.

Methods: This study analyzed 377 eligible patients between June 2007 and December 2012. All patients enrolled in the study were newly diagnosed with stage IV NSCLC and had records of pre-treatment serum CEA levels.

Long-term clinical experience of high-dose ablative lung radiotherapy: high pre-treatment [18F]fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography maximal standardized uptake value of the primary tumor adversely affects treatment outcome.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to report the long-term clinical experience with lung stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SABR).

Methods: Between April 2004 and December 2011, 58 of 92 consecutive lung SABR cases were treated with a curative purpose and were eligible for inclusion. Forty patients were treated for primary lung cancer, and eighteen were treated for locally confined recurrent tumors.

Clinical Responses and Prognostic Indicators of Concurrent Chemoradiation for Non-small Cell Lung Cancer.

Purpose: To evaluate treatment outcomes and prognostic factors in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients treated with concurrent chemoradiation.

Materials And Methods: From January 2005 to June 2009, 51 patients were treated with concurrent chemoradiation for 3 different aims: locally advanced stage III, locally recurrent disease, and postoperative gross residual NSCLC. Median age was 63 years.
