Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of physical exercise and its implications on pain, functional mobility (FM) and quality of life (QoL) in individuals with isolated hip osteoarthritis (HO).

Design: Intervention systematic review.

Literature Search: Pubmed, Embase, CINAHL, CENTRAL (Cochrane) and PEDro were searched for studies evaluating the effect of exercise on pain, FM and QoL in people with HO from the first publication until August 2022.

Objective: The pressure pain threshold is commonly employed to assess pain in various conditions. Despite its widespread use, the measurement of pressure pain thresholds is not consistently described across studies. Therefore, this review aimed to systematically examine the evidence regarding the assessment of pressure pain thresholds in patients with low back pain, including the protocols and body sites employed.

Article Synopsis
  • Knee osteoarthritis primarily leads to cartilage and menisci degeneration, causing pain and mobility issues, prompting a study on the effects of exercise and non-hydrolyzed collagen (UC-II) on women's functionality and quality of life.
  • Participants were split into three groups: control (no intervention), medication (UC-II), and exercise (12 sessions), with the exercise group showing significant improvements in both functionality and quality of life metrics compared to the control group.
  • Results indicated that while both the exercise and UC-II groups enhanced functionality, the exercise protocol had a more pronounced positive impact on overall quality of life, especially in reducing stiffness and pain.

Background: Progressive mobility in the ICU has been recommended; however, the definitions of low, moderate, and high mobility in the ICU still diverge between studies. Therefore, our objective was to classify the mobility of the sample from verticalization and active withdrawal from the bed, and from that, to analyze the chances of discharge, death, and readmission to the ICU.

Materials And Methods: This is an observational and retrospective study that consults the medical records of individuals admitted to the ICU of the University Hospital of Sergipe (HU/SE) between August 2017 and August 2018.

Objectives: to construct and validate an instrument for assessing the functionality of individuals with schistosomiasis.

Methods: methodological study, developed in three stages: 1) construction of the instrument and its association with categories of the International Classification of Functionality, which the study used to elaborate the questions; 2) validation of content, performed by judges experts in the subject; 3) application of the instrument by the test-retest technique in the population with schistosomiasis in 14 days. The study used the correlation coefficient kappa to calculate the degree of agreement between the judges kappa.

: The degenerative pathology of the hip joint appears in young age groups, related to fem-oroacetabular impingement, and in advanced age, due to other inflammatory causes, with greater potential for severity in the presence of comorbidities. : To evaluate the participation of the main causes of osteoarthritis in relation to physical activities, s Body Mass Index (BMI) and television time (TV). : 54 patients with surgical indication treated at an orthopedic referral university hospital were stratified into groups (Impact: I, Osteonecrosis/rheumatic: II, Infectious/traumatic: III), and the influence of comorbidities on physical activity performance, relative to BMI and TV time.

Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether clinical, functional, and psychosocial factors are associated with walking time in patients with chronic low back pain.

Methods: This study included patients aged ≥18 years with low back pain for at least 3 months who visited our outpatient clinic between October 2017 and February 2018. We used the following scales/questionnaires: International Physical Activity Questionnaire for self-reported walking time, Numerical Pain Rating Scale for pain intensity, self-report assessing symptom duration, Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire for disability, Patient-Specific Functional Scale for function, Pain Catastrophizing Scale for pain catastrophizing, and screening questions to assess depression and anxiety.

Obesity is a highly prevalent chronic metabolic disease, with an increasing incidence, and is currently approaching epidemic proportions in developing countries. Ouraim was to evaluate the activity levels, quality of life (QoL), clinical parameters, laboratory parameters, and cardiometabolic risk factors afterbariatric surgery (BS). We classified78 patients who underwentBS into four groups, as follows: Those evaluated 1-2 years after BS (BS2), 2-4 years after BS (BS4), 4-6 years after BS (BS6), and 6-10 years after BS (BS+6).

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare the craniocervical angles and distances in individuals with temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) and those without TMD.
  • Among 56 participants aged 18-30, 23 completed the study, with 12 diagnosed with TMD and 11 free from it, showing that TMD patients often suffered from facial and neck pain.
  • Key findings indicated that TMD subjects had significantly different measurements in the plane atlas angle and anterior translation distance compared to the free TMD group, suggesting a specific cervical spine posture in symptomatic patients.
