Patients with type 2 diabetes and surgical foot wounds: Overtrust in primary care physicians, isolation, and difficulties contemplating the future.

Aims: In Europe, 27 % of patients with a podiatric complication of diabetes are referred to a specialized structure for surgery after more than 3 months' disease progression. Our study aimed to analyze access to healthcare and future self-projection in patients with severe diabetic foot conditions.

Methods: We performed a qualitative study with semi-structured interviews in patients hospitalized with diabetic foot conditions requiring surgical treatment.

Imaging micrometer-sized aerosol particles with digital holography.

Small particles that are trapped, deposited, or otherwise fixed can be imaged by digital holography with a resolution approaching that of optical microscopy. When such particles are in motion as an aerosol, a comparable resolution is challenging to achieve. Using a simplified bi-telecentric lens system, we demonstrate that 1µm free-flowing aerosol particles can be imaged at the single-particle level using digital in-line holography.

Here, we explored the ability of Trametes versicolor glutathione transferases (GSTs) from the Omega class (TvGSTOs) to bind metal-nitrosyl compounds. Here, we investigate the evolution of the inverse spin Hall effect of Ni_{60}Cu_{40} and Ni_{50}Cu_{50} across their Curie temperatures using spin-pumping experiments. We show that the inverse spin Hall effect in these samples is comparable to that of platinum, and that it is insensitive to the magnetic order.

Background: The lack of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) function causes cystic fibrosis (CF), predisposing to severe lung disease, reduced growth and osteopenia. Both reduced bone content and strength are increasingly recognized in infants with CF before the onset of significant lung disease, suggesting a developmental origin and a possible role in bone disease pathogenesis. Marine microbial metagenomes sampled across space and time.

Recent advances in understanding the ecology of marine systems have been greatly facilitated by the growing availability of metagenomic data, which provide information on the identity, diversity and functional potential of the microbial community in a particular place and time. Here we present a dataset comprising over 5 terabases of metagenomic data from 610 samples spanning diverse regions of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. One set of metagenomes, collected on GEOTRACES cruises, captures large geographic transects at multiple depths per station.

Single cell genomes of Prochlorococcus, Synechococcus, and sympatric microbes from diverse marine environments.

Prochlorococcus and Synechococcus are the dominant primary producers in marine ecosystems and perform a significant fraction of ocean carbon fixation. These cyanobacteria interact with a diverse microbial community that coexists with them. Comparative genomics of cultivated isolates has helped address questions regarding patterns of evolution and diversity among microbes, but the fraction that can be cultivated is miniscule compared to the diversity in the wild.

[Satisfaction of a pharmacovigilance declaration support network in general practice].

Objective: General practitioners (GPs) report little adverse drug reactions (ADR), although it is mandatory in France. The objective was to evaluate the satisfaction of the GPs who participated to a pharmacovigilance ADR declaration support network via a clinical research assistant (CRA) moving to their GP office in the French South-West region of Midi-Pyrénées.

Study Design: A satisfaction questionnaire was sent to the 59 active GPs of this network in November 2016.

Osteoclasts (OCs), the bone-resorbing cells, play a key role in skeletal development and adult bone remodeling. They also participate in the pathogenesis of various bone disorders. One of the major technical difficulties in the generation of OCs, when working on human material, is the ability to achieve large differentiation of mature OCs from human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs).

Atypical protein disulfide isomerases (PDI): Comparison of the molecular and catalytic properties of poplar PDI-A and PDI-M with PDI-L1A.

Protein disulfide isomerases are overwhelmingly multi-modular redox catalysts able to perform the formation, reduction or isomerisation of disulfide bonds. We present here the biochemical characterization of three different poplar PDI isoforms. PDI-A is characterized by a single catalytic Trx module, the so-called a domain, whereas PDI-L1a and PDI-M display an a-b-b'-a' and a°-a-b organisation respectively.

ICRF wave field measurements in the presence of scrape off layer turbulence on the ASDEX Upgrade tokamak (invited).

A new array of B-dot probes was installed on ASDEX Upgrade. The purpose of the new diagnostic is to study Ion Cyclotron Range-off Frequencies (ICRF) wave field distributions in the evanescent scrape-off layer (SOL) plasma region on the low field side of ASDEX Upgrade. The vacuum measurements (no gas, B = 0 T) reveal ICRF wave field measurements consistent with the profiles expected from the newly installed 3-strap ICRF antennas outside the antenna box: the shape of the toroidal distribution of both the amplitude and the phase is the same for the case of only the central straps being active, as for the case of only the side straps being active.

[Usefulness of social and educational approach in adolescents and young adults with cancer: The Lille team's experience].

Within the second "Cancer plan" 2009-2013, the French national institute of cancer (INCa) recommended the implementation of programs dedicated to adolescents and youngs adults (AYA) with cancer. In this context and in parallel to the specific medical care developed for AYA, the Oscar-Lambret center created a psycho-social-educational team including among others a social worker (SW) and a special educational teacher (SET), offering multidisciplinary qualifications and views. The social approach, realized as a pair by SW-SET, takes into account every aspect of each AYA (family, academic, career/professional, personal, cultural aspects…).
