Some species have been shown to have pharmacological properties such as activity against cancer, and it is also used as a traditional herbal medicine in many rural parts of the world. The (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-Yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay was used as a screening tool to determine the approximate cell viability inhibitory concentrations of methanol and aqueous crude extracts of spp. The extracts were screened using small-cell lung cancer (H69V), hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2/C3A) and non-cancerous kidney cells (Vero) cell lines.

Identifying plants that can tolerate abiotic stress conditions is essential for sustainable agriculture. plants can tolerate adverse weather conditions, especially drought and heat, and their leaves and grain are highly nutritious.

Therefore, evaluating the influence of drought and heat stress on commercially and medically important crop species like is important to grow the crop for optimal nutritional and medicinal properties.

The plants were fumigated for four weeks under well-watered and water-stressed (water deficit) conditions. The fast chlorophyll fluorescence transients were measured after 2 and 4 weeks of fumigation, as well as in control plants, and analyzed by the JIP-test, which is a non-destructive, non-invasive, informative, very fast and inexpensive technique used to evaluate the changes in photosynthetic efficiency.

Xanthine oxidase catalyzes the oxidation of hypoxanthine to xanthine to uric acid, and oxygen radicals that are formed as a by-product at both of these oxidation steps may participate in plant defense reactions.
