The Bone-Marrow derived Dendritic Cell (BMDC) test is a promising assay for identifying sensitizing chemicals based on the 3Rs (Replace, Reduce, Refine) principle. Background: Anaphylaxis due to nuts is frequent in humans; to the best of the authors' knowledge, it has not been reported previously in dogs.
Case Report: A 5-year-old female, intact, Vizsla dog was presented with acute diarrhoea, vomiting, respiratory distress and erythematous wheals. The dog had eaten walnuts, which she had been fed in small amounts for years, hours before the onset of clinical signs.
Background: Food allergy is often suspected in dogs with clinical signs of atopic dermatitis. This diagnosis is confirmed with an elimination diet and a subsequent challenge with regular food. Laboratory tests for the diagnosis of food allergy in dogs are unreliable and/or technically difficult.

Background: Carbohydrate-specific IgE antibodies present on nonprimate mammalian proteins were incriminated recently in delayed meat anaphylaxis. The aim of this study was to explore whether anaphylaxis to mammalian kidney is also associated with galactose-α-1,3-galactose (αGal)-specific IgE.
Methods: Fourteen patients with anaphylaxis to pork or beef kidney underwent prick tests to meat and kidney.
Introduction: Despite the occurrence of a severe allergic reaction including an anaphylactic shock, a drug may remain essential and impossible to replace. This may be the case of insulin in a diabetic patient. We describe the case of an anaphylactic shock to human insulin in whom a desensitization protocol was successfully achieved.
