A 44 year-old previously healthy woman presented a persistent epigastric pain. Computed tomography revealed a saccular aneurysm with a diameter of 25x20 mm in the first jejunal artery and also a stenosis in the celiac trunk associated with median arcuate ligament syndrome, turning the hepatic perfusion dependent of the gastroduodenal artery flow. Through a midline laparotomy, celiac axis was exposed, and median arcuate ligament released for median arcuate ligament syndrome treatment.

Purpose Of Review: Spinal fusion, vital for treating various spinal disorders, has evolved since the introduction of the minimally invasive Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion (LLIF) by Pimenta in 2001. Traditionally performed in the lateral decubitus position, LLIF faces challenges such as intraoperative repositioning, neurological complications, and lack of access to lower lumbar levels. These challenges lead to long surgery times, increased rates of perioperative complications, and increased costs.

Recent Findings: Titanium interbody cages used in spine fusion surgery have evolved from solid metal blocks to porous structures with varying shapes and sizes in order to provide stability while minimizing adverse side effects. Advancements in technology, especially 3D printing, have allowed for the creation of highly customizable spinal implants to fit patient specific needs.
Background: ABO blood group system has been clinically related to an increased incidence of cardiovascular diseases. Preliminary data relating Rhesus (Rh) factor and these outcomes also have been published. Our aim was to analyse the impact of blood group on the short and long-term outcomes after carotid endarterectomy (CEA).

Introduction: This systematic review aimed to discuss the current knowledge of possibly useful circulatory biomarkers (other than D-dimers) in the diagnosis of patients with an acute aortic dissection (AAD), to distinguish these patients from patients with Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI).
Evidence Acquisition: This study followed the PRISMA guidelines. The databases PubMed, EMBASE and Scopus were systematically searched from inception to May 2023.
Purpose: Laparoscopic groin hernia repair has evolved and gained popularity and laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) procedure provides an opportunity to evaluate the peritoneal cavity and both inguinal areas without the need for additional dissection. There is still a paucity of evidence to support TAPP repair in the emergency setting. In this systematic review, we aim to evaluate the feasibility and safety of TAPP repair for incarcerated and strangulated groin hernias.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to generate validated prediction rules for metacarpal lengths that can be applied without the need for computation tools to assist with restoration of anatomic length after fracture and utilizes only ipsilateral metacarpals.
Methods: The anatomic lengths of all hand bones in 50 hands (25 men, 25 women) were used along with linear regression subset analysis to determine which metacarpals are the most predictive of each other. The most predictive metacarpals were then used to generate simple addition and subtraction prediction rules via simplifying the linear equation generated with linear regression analysis.
Objective: To summarize characteristics, complications, and success rates of different catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) protocols for the treatment of lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (LE-DVT).
Methods: A systematic review using electronic databases (MEDLINE, Scopus, and Web of Science) was performed to identify randomized controlled trials and observational studies related to LE-DVT treated with CDT. A random-effects model meta-analysis was performed to obtain the pooled proportions of early complications, postthrombotic syndrome (PTS), and venous patency.
Cardiac complications represent the main cause of mortality after non-cardiac surgery and the Revised Cardiac Risk Index (RCRI) was created to estimate the perioperative risk of these events. It considers history of ischaemic heart disease, congestive heart failure, diabetes requiring preoperative insulin, stroke or transient ischaemic attack and renal impairment. We aim to describe the accuracy of the RCRI for predicting perioperative major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) - a composite of heart failure, ischemic events and all-cause death.

Dengue virus type 2 (DENV-2) is, traditionally, the most studied serotype due to its association with explosive outbreaks and severe cases. In Brazil, almost 20 years after the first introduction in the 1990s, a new lineage (Lineage II) of the DENV-2 Asian/American genotype emerged and caused an epidemic with severe cases and hospitalizations. Severe dengue includes multiple organ failure, and renal involvement can be potentially related to increased mortality.

Introduction: Ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm's treatment relies on the emergent surgery, considering preoperative prognosis. There are several scores that estimate perioperative mortality of ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm, however, the accuracy of such algorithms in some populations remains unknown.
Objective: Compare the prognostic validity of the Weingarten score with the Glasgow Aneurysm Score and the Vancouver Scoring System.
Background: A subset of patients submitted to carotid endarterectomy under regional anesthesia develop intraoperative neurologic deficit during carotid artery crossclamping related to critical cerebral perfusion, which may be owing to low flow or embolic phenomena. This subgroup is deemed prone to worse outcomes, which highlights its clinical relevance. The main aim of this study was to identify clinical and hematological predictors for intraoperative neurologic deficit.
