Since then, MIDCAB has evolved with the adoption of a robotic platform and the possibility to perform multivessel bypass procedures. Minimally invasive coronary revascularisation surgery also allows for a combination between the benefits of CABG and percutaneous coronary interventions for non-LAD lesions - a hybrid approach.

However, it remains unclear how hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and preoperative glycemia can be used in clinical decision-making to prevent sternal wound complications (SWC) following off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB).
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study of 1774 consecutive patients who underwent OPCAB surgery between January 2010 and November 2016.
Background: The Lansky Play-Performance Scale (LPPS) is often used to determine a child's performance status for cancer clinical trial eligibility. Differences between clinician and caregiver LPPS ratings and their associations with child-reported functioning have not been evaluated.
Methods: Children aged 7 to 18 years who were receiving cancer treatment and their caregivers were recruited from 9 pediatric cancer centers.
Importance: Total neoadjuvant therapy (TNT) is often used to downstage locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) and decrease locoregional relapse; however, more than one-third of patients develop recurrent metastatic disease. As such, novel combinations are needed.
Objective: To assess whether the addition of pembrolizumab during and after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy can lead to an improvement in the neoadjuvant rectal (NAR) score compared with treatment with FOLFOX (5-fluorouracil, leucovorin, and oxaliplatin) and chemoradiotherapy alone.
Left ventricular assist devices (LVADs) assure longer survival to patients, but exercise capacity is limited compared to normal values. Overall, LVAD patients show high wedge pressure and low cardiac output during maximal exercise, a phenomenon hinting at the need for increased LVAD support. Clinical studies investigating the hemodynamic benefits of an LVAD speed increase during exercise, ended in inhomogeneous and sometimes contradictory results.

Objective: The objective of this study was to validate a Spanish version of the Prolapse and Incontinence Knowledge Questionnaire (PIKQ).
Methods: Validation and reliability testing of the Spanish version of the PIKQ was conducted in 2 phases. In the first phase, a translation-back-translation method by 6 bilingual researchers was utilized to generate a final Spanish translation.
A tightly regulated innate immune response to trypanosome infections is critical to strike a balance between parasite control and inflammation-associated pathology. In this study, we make use of the recently established infection model in larval zebrafish to study the early response of macrophages and neutrophils to trypanosome infections in vivo. We consistently identified high- and low-infected individuals and were able to simultaneously characterise their differential innate response.

As each constituent of their treatment can lead to neurotoxicity, cascade effects can lead to profound reorganization of the underlying brain network, the so-called 'connectome'. However, to date, few studies have assessed the relationship between brain network topology, the functional role of network hubs (i.

Respective data on specific entities, including CNS neuroblastoma, FOXR2 activated (CNS NB-FOXR2), and embryonal tumors with multilayered rosettes (ETMR) are needed for development of differentiated treatment strategies.
Methods: Within this retrospective, international study, tumor samples of clinically well-annotated patients with the original diagnosis of CNS-PNET were analyzed using DNA methylation arrays (n = 307).
Background: Despite its widespread use in anesthesia residency training, mock oral board examinations (MOBEs) are not included in the pedagogy of most nurse anesthesia programs (NAPs). A small-scale study was conducted to assess the use of MOBEs in this setting.
Method: The investigational cohort consisted of 10 second-year students in a master's program in nurse anesthesia.
Introduction: Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma is a rare disease with a high mortality. Our primary aim was to determine the incidence of this disease in Belgium. Secondly, we wanted to compare the treatment approach of Belgian pediatric oncology centres, to investigate possibilities for improvement.

We previously showed that T-705 is able to significantly inhibit the replication of chikungunya virus (CHIKV), an arbovirus transmitted by mosquitoes, in mammalian cells and in mouse models. In contrast, the effect of T-705 on CHIKV infection and replication in the mosquito vector is unknown.

We aimed to evaluate single left lung positive-end-expiratory-pressure (SLL-PEEP) ventilation inducing an intraoperative rightward shift of the ascending aorta to improve exposure.
Methods: Nineteen patients with aortic stenosis undergoing SAVR via RALT were prospectively analyzed.
Aim: This study determines whether the culture within an acute care hospital empowers 'all' nurses to be leaders by exploring intersectionality and nursing leadership in the context of the social environment.
Background: Nurses practice leadership in their day-to-day activities as clinical leaders alongside traditional roles of management and leadership. However, some nurses do not acknowledge nursing work as leadership activity, nor is it seen so by others where hierarchical leadership approaches remain prevalent.
Background: The antifungal drug itraconazole exerts in vitro activity against SARS-CoV-2 in Vero and human Caco-2 cells. Preclinical and clinical studies are required to investigate if itraconazole is effective for the treatment and/or prevention of COVID-19.
Methods: Due to the initial absence of preclinical models, the effect of itraconazole was explored in a clinical, proof-of-concept, open-label, single-center study, in which hospitalized COVID-19 patients were randomly assigned to standard of care with or without itraconazole.
Introduction: Despite many recent advances in the treatment of multiple myeloma (MM), infection remains a major cause of morbidity and mortality. Prior studies have shown mixed results using intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) to prevent infections in MM and were conducted prior to most modern MM therapies.
Patients And Methods: We retrospectively reviewed all patients with MM treated with IVIG at our institution from 2010 to 2017.

There is an intensification of work in global health systems, a phenomenon that could increase work-family conflict, exhaustion, and intentions to leave among healthcare workers. The main objective of this study is to analyze if daily work-family conflict and burnout could explain the daily leaving intentions and vitality of healthcare workers. This is a diary study, which employs an experience-sampling methodology (ESM).
