Article Synopsis
  • Limited data on the presentation and outcomes of surgically treated pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas (PDACs) in India prompted a study involving 288 patients from 8 academic centers from January 2015 to June 2019.
  • The study found an 81% rate of R0 resection and a median overall survival of 45 months, with significant differences in disease-free survival (DFS) based on cancer stage and the presence of perineural invasion (PNI).
  • Overall, the MIPPAP study indicates that the survivals for resectable PDACs in India are comparable to global data, while suggesting that adjuvant radiotherapy may not improve outcomes after complete resection.
