Gait initiation is a fundamental human task, requiring one or more anticipatory postural adjustments (APA) prior to stepping. Deviations in amplitude and timing of APAs exist in Parkinson's disease (PD), causing dysfunctional postural control which increases the risk of falls. The motor cortex and basal ganglia have been implicated in the regulation of postural control, however, their dynamics during gait initiation, relationship to APA metrics, and response to pharmacotherapy such as levodopa are unknown.

This is due to 1) a lack of standardized and robust metrics for gait assessment in PD patients, 2) the challenges of performing a thorough evaluation of all the stimulation parameters space that can alter gait, and 3) a lack of understanding for impacts of stimulation on the neurophysiological signatures of walking. In this study, our goal was to develop a data-driven approach to identify optimal, personalized DBS stimulation parameters to improve gait in PD patients and identify the neurophysiological signature of improved gait.

The present study evaluates the performance of Bard, a novel LLM, in identifying and managing postoperative patient concerns for complications following body contouring surgery.
Methods: The American Society of Plastic Surgeons' website was queried to identify and simulate all potential postoperative complications following body contouring across different acuities and severity.
Background: Social media is a powerful tool that has empowered plastic surgeons to easily collaborate with one another and rapidly publicize research progression. The present study investigates the relationship between academic productivity and social media presence among both integrated and independent plastic surgery programs and their faculty.
Methods: Plastic surgery programs on the American Council of Academic Plastic Surgeons website were included.
Patient demand for nonsurgical and minimally invasive cosmetic treatments has increased in recent years, resulting in a growing market that is particularly vulnerable to specialty creep. Despite this growing demand, nonsurgical cosmetic training for plastic surgery residents is often inconsistent and challenging. To ensure the continued safe and effective delivery of nonsurgical cosmetic care by board-certified plastic surgeons, it is critical to implement standardized training models for plastic surgery residents.

Unlabelled: Prepectoral implant-based breast reconstruction has recently gained increasing popularity, but there are limited data regarding national trends in the use of this technique. Our aim was to determine practice patterns related to prepectoral breast reconstruction among plastic surgeons, as well as to identify perceived advantages and disadvantages of this technique.
Methods: A 16-question electronic survey tool was distributed to 2535 members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Introduction: Plastic surgeons are often consulted by other surgical teams for management of wound dehiscence following abdominopelvic surgery.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to determine whether operative debridement and primary closure of abdominopelvic wounds are safe and expeditious for patients.
Materials And Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on a database of patients who underwent operative debridement and closure at a single institution between January 2011 and December 2015 for dehisced abdominal or pelvic wounds acquired from prior obstetric, gynecologic, transplant, plastic, or general surgery procedures.
There has been scant work to investigate the mechanisms influencing macronutrient selection by mice. Here, we measured the consumption and choice of carbohydrate- and fat-containing diets by NZW/LacJ (NZW) and BTBR/T+ tf/J (BTBR) strains. We found that NZW mice voluntarily ate more carbohydrate and less fat than did BTBR mice.
