Background And Purpose: Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) is a diagnostic challenge because its clinical symptoms and imaging appearance resemble normal aging and other forms of dementia. Identifying NPH is essential so that patients can receive timely treatment to improve gait distortion and quality of life. An automated marker of NPH was developed and evaluated on clinical CT images, and its utility was assessed in a large patient cohort.

Background: Essential tremor (ET) is a common slowly-progressive neurologic disorder. It is predominantly characterized by kinetic tremors involving bilateral upper limbs. Although ET shares motor similarities with Parkinson disease (PD), there is no known relationship between ET and PD.

A microcarrier-based protocol for scalable generation and purification of human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neurons and astrocytes.

Here, we describe a protocol for a microcarrier (MC)-based, large-scale generation and cryopreservation of human-induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-derived neurons and astrocytes. We also detail steps to isolate these populations with a high degree of purity. Finally, we describe how to cryopreserve these cell types while maintaining high levels of viability and preserving cellular function post-thaw.
