Background: Fluoroquinolones (FQs) are commonly used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs), but some studies have suggested they may increase the risk of aortic aneurysm or dissection (AA/AD). However, no large-scale international study has thoroughly assessed this risk.
Methods: A retrospective cohort study was conducted using a large, distributed network analysis across 14 databases from 5 countries (United States, South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and Australia).

Purpose: Investigate the impact of recent notified medicine shortages on dispensing patterns of 30, 40, 50, and 60 mg strengths of lisdexamfetamine for treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in Australia.
Methods: Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) aggregate dispensing data for 2022-2024 were analysed. Monthly dispensings and Defined Daily Doses (DDDs) for lisdexamfetamine were calculated overall and by product strength.
Premature mortality in people living with a severe mental illness (SMI) is often attributed to multiple factors including the use of medicines such as antipsychotics. Second-generation antipsychotics (SGAs) are known to cause metabolic syndrome which can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. Practice guidelines have recommended regular physical health monitoring, particularly of metabolic parameters, however, metabolic monitoring for people living with SMI using antipsychotics remains suboptimal.

Methods And Analysis: Thirty residents will be recruited from an aged care facility in South Australia. The study will be conducted in two phases.
Objectives: During the COVID-19 pandemic, Australian community pharmacists delivered a wide range of professional services, including COVID-19 vaccinations. The aim of this study was to understand the reasons for and attitudes of consumers receiving COVID-19 vaccinations from community pharmacists.
Methods: A nationwide anonymous online survey recruited consumers above the age of 18 years who had received their COVID-19 vaccinations at community pharmacies between September 2021 and April 2022.
What Is Known And Objective: Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), used to treat and prevent gastro-oesophageal conditions, are well-tolerated but have been associated with risk including pneumonia. The extent to which initiation of PPIs can contribute to other respiratory conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is largely unknown.
Methods: A sequence symmetry analysis (SSA) approach was applied to the Australian Department of Human Services, Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme 10% extract.
