Conserved patterns of transcriptional dysregulation, heterogeneity, and cell states in clear cell kidney cancer.

Clear cell kidney cancers are characterized both by conserved oncogenic driver events and by marked intratumor genetic and phenotypic heterogeneity, which help drive tumor progression, metastasis, and resistance to therapy. How these are reflected in transcriptional programs within the cancer and stromal cell components remains an important question with the potential to drive novel therapeutic approaches to treating cancer. To better understand these programs, we perform single-cell transcriptomics on 75 multi-regional biopsies from kidney tumors and normal kidney.

However, it can also be extra-pleural in origin. With tongue being the most common site involved in this region, epiglottis, larynx, thyroid, external auditory canal, lacrimal sac, hypoglossal nerve, parotid gland, sublingual gland, Para pharyngeal space, nasopharynx, scalp, gingiva, orbit and infratemporal fossa as well as paranasal sinuses and nasal cavities can also get involved.

Osteoporosis is a common condition associated with an increased risk of bone fractures due to fragility. Bone mineral density (BMD) is lower in menopausal women due to estrogen deficiency, age-related decline in osteoblast function, decreased calcium absorption, and reduced synthesis of vitamin D, which lead to osteoporosis. The aim of this study was to determine the correlation between serum vitamin D levels and BMD assessed using radiofrequency echographic multi-spectrometry technology (REMS) in menopausal women.

A novel methodology for stabilization of silver nanoparticles on cotton, nylon and cotton/nylon fabrics using chitosan and triethyl orthoformate for enhanced and elongated antibacterial performance.

In the present study, the commercially available three different fabrics cotton, nylon and cotton/nylon were modified by chitosan and silver nanoparticles using a crosslinker triethyl orthoformate (TEOF). Resulted cotton‑silver (Ag-Cs-Cot), nylon‑silver (Ag-Cs-Nyl) and cotton-nylon silver (Ag-Cs-Cot-Nyl) fabrics showed significant anti-bacterial activity even after 50 washing cycles. Silver nanoparticles were prepared by reducing silver nitrate through sodium borohydride at 0 °C.

Intensification of integrated immunization services to recover routine vaccination coverage and bring COVID-19 vaccine to the population of Iraq in 2022.

Introduction: COVID-19 seriously impacted routine immunization (RI) in Iraq. Coverage declined to a 6-year low in 2021, and COVID-19 vaccination uptake was slow. In response, government implemented intensification of integrated immunization services (3IS), a nationwide approach comprising regular outreach sessions of COVID-19 vaccination and RI for children who had either missed doses or never commenced scheduled vaccination (zero-dose children).

VertXNet: an ensemble method for vertebral body segmentation and identification from cervical and lumbar spinal X-rays.

Multiplex analysis of intratumoural immune infiltrate and prognosis in patients with stage II-III colorectal cancer from the SCOT and QUASAR 2 trials: a retrospective analysis.

Background: Tumour-infiltrating CD8 cytotoxic T cells confer favourable prognosis in colorectal cancer. The added prognostic value of other infiltrating immune cells is unclear and so we sought to investigate their prognostic value in two large clinical trial cohorts.

Methods: We used multiplex immunofluorescent staining of tissue microarrays to assess the densities of CD8, CD20, FoxP3, and CD68 cells in the intraepithelial and intrastromal compartments from tumour samples of patients with stage II-III colorectal cancer from the SCOT trial (ISRCTN59757862), which examined 3 months versus 6 months of adjuvant oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy, and from the QUASAR 2 trial (ISRCTN45133151), which compared adjuvant capecitabine with or without bevacizumab.

Accounting for intensity variation in image analysis of large-scale multiplexed clinical trial datasets.

Multiplex immunofluorescence (mIF) imaging can provide comprehensive quantitative and spatial information for multiple immune markers for tumour immunoprofiling. However, application at scale to clinical trial samples sourced from multiple institutions is challenging due to pre-analytical heterogeneity. Methods: A combined dataset (n = 992) was collated from two databases of older adults (>65 years) from liaison psychiatry and palliative care populations in Ireland and India. Phenomenology and severity of delirium were analysed using the Delirium Symptom Rating Scale Revised (DRS-R98) and contributory etiologies for the delirium groups were ascertained using the Delirium Etiology Checklist (DEC).

Reverse Peroneal Artery Flap-A Workhorse Flap for Reconstruction of Large, Distal Defects of Ankle and Foot.

 Reconstruction of large foot and ankle defects is a difficult task due to less available local soft tissue and more critical from functional point of view. To overcome the limitations associated with locoregional flaps and free flaps, reverse peroneal artery (RPA) flap was selected and its usefulness in reconstruction of distal large defects of the ankle and foot and its complications were studied.  This is a prospective observational study done in 20 patients treated as cohort within 2 years and 8 months from January 2018 to August 2020.

Robotic Central Hepatectomy for the Treatment of Gallbladder Carcinoma. Outcomes of Minimally Invasive Approach.

Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is an uncommon but very aggressive malignancy with poor prognosis. Concerns for oncological inferiority related to the technical difficulties in performing laparoscopic portal lymphadenectomy discourage many surgeons to undertake this operation minimally invasively. With wide application of robotic technology to solve limitations of conventional laparoscopy, we describe our initial outcomes of robotic central hepatectomy and portal lymphadenectomy for gallbladder carcinoma in 15 consecutive patients.

The purpose of watershed assessments is to give information about conditions of water quality, stream morphology, and biological integrity to identify the sources of stressors and their impacts. In recent decades, different watershed assessment methods have been developed to evaluate the cumulative impacts of human activities on watershed health and the condition of aquatic systems. In the current research, we propose a new approach for assessing watershed vulnerability to contamination based on spatial analysis by using geographic information systems (GIS) and the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) technique.
