Eight-and-a-Half Syndrome Secondary to Acute Brainstem Infarction.

Eight-and-a-half syndrome is a rare neuro-ophthalmologic condition, which is characterized by ipsilateral horizontal gaze palsy, internuclear ophthalmoplegia (INO), and ipsilateral lower motor neuron facial palsy. We report a case of eight-and-a-half syndrome secondary to acute brainstem infarction. A 55-year-old gentleman with underlying diabetes mellitus and hypertension presented with a sudden onset of double vision in the right lateral gaze for one day.

Ocular Injuries Due to Insect Spines (Ophthalmia Nodosa): Potential Hazard to Motorcyclists.

Ocular injury remains a potential hazard to motorcyclists. While the incidence of traumatic penetrating or blunt ocular injury is widely known in the literature, ocular injuries due to insect hair or spine (ophthalmia nodosa) among motorcyclists are scarce or unheard of. Here, we report four cases of ocular injuries caused by insect hair spines among motorcyclists.

Gunshot-like wound caused by sling shot injury - a case report.

We report a rare case of sling shot injury that presented with a gunshot-like wound with preseptal cellulitis, in a toddler. A 5-year-old boy presented with right eye pain associated with tearing and photophobia of 1-day duration. He gave a history of playing with a river crab when suddenly the crab clamped his fingers. He attempted to fling the crab off, but the crab flew and hit his right eye.

Dengue related maculopathy and foveolitis.

A 24 year-old Malay lady presented with high grade fever, myalgia, generalized rashes, severe headache and was positive for dengue serology test. Her lowest platelet count was 45 × 10(9) cells/L. She complained of sudden onset of painlessness, profound loss of vision bilaterally 7 days after the onset of fever.

Bilateral atypical optic neuritis associated with tuberculosis in an immunocompromised patient.

A 27 year-old lady, presented with sudden loss of vision in the right eye for a week. It was followed by poor vision in the left eye after 3 days. It involved the whole entire visual field and was associated with pain on eye movement.
