Article Synopsis
  • Dual specificity LAMMER kinase (KNS1) is conserved in various species and plays multiple roles in the yeast Candida albicans, particularly in its growth forms and virulence.
  • Deletion of KNS1 leads to abnormal growth patterns, sensitivity to stress, and changes in cell wall integrity, indicating its crucial function in maintaining cellular stability.
  • The kns1Δ strains demonstrated increased adhesion to surfaces and altered gene expression related to cell cycle regulation and stress response, highlighting KNS1's importance in the organism's life cycle and interaction with host cells.
