Background: Hyperpolarized [1-C]pyruvate cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (HP [1-C]pyruvate CMR) visualizes key steps in myocardial metabolism. The present study aimed to examine patients with heart failure (HF) using HP [1-C]pyruvate CMR.
Methods: A cross-sectional study of patients with HF and healthy controls using HP [1-C]pyruvate CMR.
Background: Maintaining balanced blood product ratios during damage control resuscitation (DCR) is independently associated with improved survival. We hypothesized that real-time performance improvement (RT-PI) would increase adherence to DCR best practice.
Study Design And Methods: From December 2020-August 2021, we prospectively used a bedside RT-PI tool to guide DCR in severely injured patients surviving at least 30 min.

Objectives: Percutaneously placed small-bore (14 Fr) catheters and pleural lavage have emerged independently as innovative approaches to hemothorax management. This report describes techniques for combining percutaneous thoracostomy with pleural lavage and presents results from a performance improvement series of patients managed with percutaneous thoracostomy with immediate lavage.
Methods: This was a prospective performance improvement series of patients treated at a level 1 trauma center with percutaneous thoracostomy and immediate lavage between April 2021 and May 2023.
Introduction: The antifibrinolytic tranexamic acid (TXA) may reduce death in trauma; however, outcomes associated with TXA use in patients without proven hyperfibrinolysis remain unclear. We analyzed the associations of empirically administered TXA, hypothesizing that TXA use would correlate to lower transfusion totals but increased thromboembolic complications.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study compared trauma patients started on massive transfusion protocol at a Level I trauma center from 2016 to 2021 who either did or did not receive TXA.
Aim: Assessment of neurologic injury within the immediate hours following out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) resuscitation remains a major clinical challenge. Extracellular vesicles (EVs), small bodies derived from cytosolic contents during injury, may provide the opportunity for "liquid biopsy" within hours following resuscitation, as they contain proteins and RNA linked to cell type of origin. We evaluated whether micro-RNA (miRNA) from serologic EVs were associated with post-arrest neurologic outcome.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, women and girls across the globe faced increased reliance on the digital space to access education, social support, and health and gender-based violence (GBV) services. While research from the last three years has explored how women and girls navigated and responded to their new virtual reality, minimal evidence has been generated from low-resource settings where access to technology may be limited. Further, no studies to date have examined these dynamics in Iraq, where women and girls already face numerous threats to safety due to various forms of structural violence and patriarchal family structures.

Background: Hyperpolarized (HP) [1-C]pyruvate cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging can visualize the uptake and intracellular conversion of [1-C]pyruvate to either [1-C]lactate or C-bicarbonate depending on the prevailing metabolic state. The aim of the present study was to combine an adenosine stress test with HP [1-C]pyruvate CMR to detect cardiac metabolism in the healthy human heart at rest and during moderate stress.
Methods: A prospective descriptive study was performed between October 2019 and August 2020.
Background: Long-term surveillance data on venous stent integrity is sparse. There is limited knowledge on whether duplex ultrasound (DUS) can detect potential stent deformities such as kinking, straightening, and fracture, which may impact long-term patency of the stented veins.
Purpose: To assess venous stent integrity after at least five years of follow-up and to establish the efficacy of DUS as surveillance in patients with venous stent.
Introduction: The aim of the study was to investigate whether robotic-assisted surgery is associated with lower incremental resource use among obese patients relative to non-obese patients after a Danish nationwide adoption of robotic-assisted surgery in women with early-stage endometrial cancer. This is a population-based cohort study based on registers and clinical data.
Material And Methods: All women who underwent surgery (robotic, laparoscopic and laparotomy) from 2008 to 2015 were included and divided according to body mass index (<30 and ≥30).
Objective: The majority of cost-studies related to robotic surgery has a short follow-up and primarily report the costs from the index surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the long-term resource consequences of introducing robotic surgery for early stage endometrial cancer in Denmark.
Methods: The study included all women with early stage endometrial cancer who underwent robotic, laparoscopic and open access surgery from January 2008 to June 2015.
The expression of Caudal-related homeobox transcription factor 2 (CDX2) is impaired by tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)-mediated activation of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) in ulcerative colitis (UC). Laminin subunit γ2 (LAMC2) is an epithelial basement membrane protein implicated in cell migration, proliferation, differentiation, as well as tumor invasion and intestinal inflammation, and its expression is enhanced by TNF-α in a NF-κB-dependent regulation of the recently identified LAMC2 enhancer. The aim was to determine whether CDX2 is involved in the basal regulation of LAMC2 in epithelial cells and to assess the influence of inflammation.

Material And Methods: Cancer of the kidney was defined as ICD-10 code DC 64. Data derived from the NORDCAN database with comparable data on cancer incidence, mortality, prevalence and relative survival in the Nordic countries, where the Danish data were delivered from the Danish Cancer Registry and the Danish Cause of Death Registry with follow-up for death or emigration until the end of 2013.
