Highly porous ingrowth surfaces have been introduced into tibial tray fixation to improve long-term survivorship in cementless total knee arthroplasty. This study was designed to evaluate the effect of porous ingrowth surface on primary stability in the implanted cementless tibial component. Three tibial tray designs possessing sintered bead or roughened porous coating ingrowth surfaces were implanted into a foam tibia model with primary stability assessed via digital image correlation during stair descent and condylar liftoff loading.

There is a constant drive within the nuclear power industry to improve upon the characterization capabilities of current ultrasonic inspection techniques in order to improve safety and reduce costs. Particular emphasis has been placed on the ability to characterize very small defects which could result in extended component lifespan and help reduce the frequency of in-service inspections. Super-resolution (SR) algorithms, also known as sampling methods, have been shown to demonstrate the capability to resolve scatterers separated by less than the diffraction limit when deployed in representative inspections and therefore could be used to tackle this issue.

This study examined the relationship between the resection depth and the bone density and the mechanical strength to support the tibial component.
Materials And Methods: Eight matched pairs of fresh, frozen cadaver lower legs were imaged with computed tomography to assess the bone density.
The surface partition of large clusters is derived analytically for a simple statistical model by using the Laplace-Fourier transformation method. In the limit of small amplitude deformations, a suggested "hills and dales model" reproduces the leading term of the Fisher result for the surface entropy to within a few percent. The model also gives the degeneracy prefactor of large clusters.

Vapor cluster concentrations, pressure, and density from fixed mean density lattice gas (Ising) calculations are explained in terms of the complement generalization of Fisher's model. Accounting for this finite size effect is important for extracting the infinite nuclear matter phase diagram from experimental data.

Few studies have examined the neuropsychological sequelae associated with end-stage pulmonary disease. Neuropsychological data are presented for 47 patients with end-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) who were being evaluated as potential candidates for lung transplantation. Although patients exhibited a diversity of neurocognitive deficits, their highest frequencies of impairment were found on the Selective Reminding Test (SRT).

Critical exponents tau and sigma, the critical point (p(c),rho(c),T(c)), surface energy coefficient c(0), enthalpy of evaporation DeltaH, and critical compressibility factor C(F)(c) are determined. For the first time, the experimental phase diagrams, (p,T) and (T,rho), describing the liquid vapor coexistence of finite neutral nuclear matter have been constructed.

The infection may have started with an unowned shelter kitten that was hospitalized during this same period for a severe atypical upper respiratory infection. The causative agent was isolated from blood and nasal swabs from two cats; the electron microscopic appearance was typical for FCV and capsid gene sequencing showed it to be genetically similar to other less pathogenic field strains.

Animals: 20 cows that calved normally and were not treated with CaCl2 gel (group 1), 20 cows with RFM that were treated with CaCl2 gel (group 2), and 20 cows with RFM that were not treated with CaCl2 gel (group 3).
Objective: To compare efficacy of topical treatment with oxytetracycline solution or 1 of 4 nonantibiotic solutions among dairy cows with papillomatous digital dermatitis (PDD).
Design: Randomized field trial.
Animals: 66 cows in a single herd.
