Background: Prenatal Zika virus (ZIKV) infection leads to microcephaly and adverse neurodevelopment. The effects of postnatal ZIKV infection on the developing brain are unknown. We assessed the neurodevelopmental outcomes of children exposed postnatally during the ZIKV epidemic.

Gestational breast cancer (GBC), defined as breast cancer (BC) diagnosed during pregnancy or the first-year post-partum, accounts for 6-15% of BC cases in women aged 20-44 years. GBC has worse prognosis than non-GBC, but reasons behind are not clear. The GEICAM/2012-03 Study (Molecular Characterization of Gestational Breast Cancer) is a multicenter prospective/retrospective observational registry of patients diagnosed with GBC.

Data were extracted from free-text in electronic health records (EHRs) in five Spanish hospitals. We included adults diagnosed with PSS between January 2015 and December 2019, stratified into BoNT-A-treated and untreated groups.

MENDS-on-FHIR examined using Health Language Seven's Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (HL7 FHIR) and US Core Implementation Guide (US Core IG) compliant resources derived from the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) Common Data Model (CDM) to create a standards-based ETL pipeline.
Materials And Methods: The input data source was a research data warehouse containing clinical and administrative data in OMOP CDM Version 5.
Systemic dosing of adeno-associated viral (AAV) vectors poses potential risk of adverse side effects including complement activation triggered by anti-capsid immunity. Due to the multifactorial nature of toxicities observed in this setting, a wide spectrum of immune modulatory regimens are being investigated in the clinic. Here, we discover an IgM cleaving enzyme (IceM) that degrades human IgM, a key trigger in the anti-AAV immune cascade.

Modern classification and categorization of individuals' health requires personalized variables such as nutrition, physical activity, lifestyle, and medical data through advanced analysis and clustering methods involving machine learning tools. The objective of this project was to categorize Mediterranean dwellers' health factors and design metabotypes to provide personalized well-being in order to develop professional implementation tools in addition to characterizing nutritional and lifestyle features in such populations. A two-phase observational study was conducted by the Pharmacists Council to identify Spanish nutritional and lifestyle characteristics.

Morphological and molecular analyses have revealed that a digenean species belonging to the family Echinostomatidae parasitizes this snail at two sites in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, South America. Molecular results confirmed that the species belongs to a genus closely related to .

Design: Prospective, randomized, crossover clinical trial.
Patients: Forty-one patients with infertility according to the POSEIDON (Patient-Oriented Strategies Encompassing IndividualizeD Oocyte Number) criteria (1b/2b).
Background: Hypertension frequently accompanies chronic kidney disease (CKD) as etiology and sequela. We examined contemporary trends in hypertension treatment and control in a national sample of adults with CKD.
Methods: We evaluated 5% cross-sectional samples of adults with CKD between 2011 and 2019 in the Veterans Health Administration.
Background: New regimens may provide better tolerability, convenience, and safety for nonoccupational human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) postexposure prophylaxis (PEP). For this reason, we evaluated the single-tablet regimen of doravirine/lamivudine/tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (DOR/3TC/TDF) for 28 days.
Methods: This was a prospective, open-label, single-arm trial including individuals with potential HIV-1 exposure within 72 hours.
Background: The risk of cardiovascular disease is increased among persons with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection, so data regarding primary prevention strategies in this population are needed.
Methods: In this phase 3 trial, we randomly assigned 7769 participants with HIV infection with a low-to-moderate risk of cardiovascular disease who were receiving antiretroviral therapy to receive daily pitavastatin calcium (at a dose of 4 mg) or placebo. The primary outcome was the occurrence of a major adverse cardiovascular event, which was defined as a composite of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, hospitalization for unstable angina, stroke, transient ischemic attack, peripheral arterial ischemia, revascularization, or death from an undetermined cause.
Background: 1p36 deletion syndrome can predispose to pediatric-onset cardiomyopathy. Deletion breakpoints are variable and may delete the transcription factor . Early studies suggest that deletion of may underlie cardiomyopathy in patients with 1p36 deletion; however, the prognostic impact of loss is unknown.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFCell senescence has recently emerged as a potentially relevant pathogenic mechanism in fibrosing interstitial lung diseases (f-ILDs), particularly in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. We hypothesized that senescent human fibroblasts may suffice to trigger a progressive fibrogenic reaction in the lung. To address this, senescent human lung fibroblasts, or their secretome (SASP), were instilled into the lungs of immunodeficient mice.

Methods: We included 672 adult participants with overweight or obesity, who participated in a 2-year randomized weight-loss dietary intervention study. We defined the regional DNAm levels as the average methylation level of 5'-cytosine-phosphate-guanine-3' within 500 bp of (cg01820192), (cg00508575), and (cg12593793), respectively.
