Observation of a New Excited Beauty Strange Baryon Decaying to Ξ_{b}^{-}π^{+}π^{-}.

The Ξ_{b}^{-}π^{+}π^{-} invariant mass spectrum is investigated with an event sample of proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13  TeV, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2016-2018 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140  fb^{-1}. The ground state Ξ_{b}^{-} is reconstructed via its decays to J/ψΞ^{-} and J/ψΛK^{-}. A narrow resonance, labeled Ξ_{b}(6100)^{-}, is observed at a Ξ_{b}^{-}π^{+}π^{-} invariant mass of 6100.

We tested the hypothesis that voluntary wheel running would complement microdystrophin gene therapy to improve muscle function in young mdx mice, a model of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. mdx mice injected with a single dose of AAV9-CK8-microdystrophin or vehicle at age 7 weeks were assigned to three groups: mdxRGT (run, gene therapy), mdxGT (no run, gene therapy), or mdx (no run, no gene therapy). Background And Purpose: Identification of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) cause is crucial for guidance of secondary prevention. Previous studies have yielded inconsistent results regarding possible correlations between AIS cause and thrombus composition, as assessed by semiquantitative histological analysis. Here, we performed a correlation analysis between AIS cause and AIS thrombus cellular composition and content, as assessed using quantitative biochemical assays.

Fecal microbiota transplantation for refractory immune checkpoint inhibitor-associated colitis.

We report the first case series of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI)-associated colitis successfully treated with fecal microbiota transplantation, with reconstitution of the gut microbiome and a relative increase in the proportion of regulatory T-cells within the colonic mucosa. These preliminary data provide evidence that modulation of the gut microbiome may abrogate ICI-associated colitis.

Dermal Interstitial Alterations in Patients With Heart Failure and Reduced Ejection Fraction: A Potential Contributor to Fluid Accumulation?

Background: Large networks of interstitial glycosaminoglycans help to regulate water and electrolyte homeostasis. The relation between dermal interstitial alterations and occurrence of edema in heart failure patients with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) is unknown. We hypothesize that in HFrEF patients (1) interstitial glycosaminoglycan density is increased, (2) changes in the interstitial glycosaminoglycan network are associated with interstitial fluid accumulation, and (3) there is a link between the interstitial glycosaminoglycan network and the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system.

In vivo tissue regeneration with robotic implants.

Robots that reside inside the body to restore or enhance biological function have long been a staple of science fiction. Creating such robotic implants poses challenges both in signaling between the implant and the biological host, as well as in implant design. To investigate these challenges, we created a robotic implant to perform in vivo tissue regeneration via mechanostimulation.

Background: Most arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are localized and occur sporadically. However, they also can be multifocal in autosomal-dominant disorders, such as hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia and capillary malformation (CM)-AVM. A randomized, controlled, double-blind, crossover trial of zonisamide in myoclonus-dystonia.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of zonisamide in patients with myoclonus-dystonia.

Methods: We conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial of zonisamide (300 mg/d) in 24 patients with myoclonus-dystonia. Each treatment period consisted of a 6-week titration phase followed by a 3-week fixed-dose phase.

Urinary composition during decongestive treatment in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.

Background: The urinary composition, including sodium (Na(+)) and chloride (Cl(-)) concentrations, might provide useful information in addition to urine output during decongestive treatment in heart failure.

Methods And Results: Consecutive patients with heart failure (n=61), ejection fraction ≤45%, worsening symptoms, and scheduled treatment with intravenous loop diuretics were included. Patients received protocol-driven therapy until complete decongestion, assessed clinically and by echocardiography.
