Background And Objectives: Primary objectives: to compare the rates of sustained clinical remission at 12 months in patients treated with antitumour necrosis factor (anti-TNF) and immunomodulators who withdraw anti-TNF treatment versus those who maintain it.

Secondary Objectives: to evaluate the effect of anti-TNF withdrawal on relapse-free time, endoscopic and radiological activity, safety, quality of life and work productivity; and to identify predictive factors for relapse.

Design: Prospective, quadruple-blind, multicentre, randomised, controlled trial.

Muscle Healing in Sports Injuries: MRI Findings and Proposed Classification Based on a Single Institutional Experience and Clinical Observation.

MRI plays a crucial role in assessment of patients with muscle injuries. The healing process of these injuries has been studied in depth from the pathophysiologic and histologic points of view and divided into destruction, repair, and remodeling phases, but the MRI findings of these phases have not been fully described, to our knowledge. On the basis of results from 310 MRI studies, including both basal and follow-up studies, in 128 athletes with muscle tears including their clinical evolution, the authors review MRI findings in muscle healing and propose a practical imaging classification based on morphology and signal intensity that correlates with histologic changes.

Exploring the Function of Epicardial Cells Beyond the Surface.

The epicardium, previously viewed as a passive outer layer around the heart, is now recognized as an essential component in development, regeneration, and repair. In this review, we explore the cellular and molecular makeup of the epicardium, highlighting its roles in heart regeneration and repair in zebrafish and salamanders, as well as its activation in young and adult postnatal mammals. We also examine the latest technologies used to study the function of epicardial cells for therapeutic interventions.

Selection of disease modifying therapies in multiple sclerosis based on patient's age and disease activity: Data from a nationwide registry.

Background: Knowledge of the safety and efficacy of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) in older patients with Multiple Sclerosis (pwMS) is limited due to their exclusion from clinical trials. Our purpose is to evaluate the choice of DMTs in pwMS older than 50 years old in a real-world setting.

Impact of Local Tailoring on Acute Stroke Care in 21 Disparate Emergency Departments: A Prospective Stepped Wedge Type III Hybrid Effectiveness-Implementation Study.

Background: Faster delivery of tPA (tissue-type plasminogen activator) results in better health outcomes for eligible patients with stroke. Standardization of stroke protocols in emergency departments (EDs) has been difficult, especially in nonstroke centers. We measured the effectiveness of a centrally led implementation strategy with local site tailoring to sustain adherence to an acute stroke protocol to improve door-to-needle (DTN) times across disparate EDs in a multihospital health system.

Association study of human leukocyte antigen variants and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Introduction: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic interstitial pneumonia marked by progressive lung fibrosis and a poor prognosis. Recent studies have highlighted the potential role of infection in the pathogenesis of IPF, and a prior association of the gene with idiopathic fibrotic interstitial pneumonia (including IPF) has been reported. Owing to the important role that the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) region plays in the immune response, here we evaluated if HLA genetic variation was associated specifically with IPF risk.

Introduction: Excessive sun exposure and sunburns are the main preventable causes of skin cancer. The growing popularity of outdoor sports in developed countries has motivated the objective of this work to study the risk of photoexposure and the skin cancer prevention needs of athletes in an extreme race and evaluate an intervention targeted at this population.

Encouraging Regular Aortic Valve Opening for EVAHEART 2 LVAD Support Using Virtual Patient Hemodynamic Speed Modulation Analysis.

This study focuses on investigating the EVAHEART 2 left ventricular assist device (LVAD) toward designing optimal pump speed modulation (PSM) algorithms for encouraging aortic valve (AV) flow. A custom-designed virtual patient hemodynamic model incorporating the EVAHEART 2 pressure-flow curves, cardiac chambers, and the systemic and pulmonary circulations was developed and used in this study. Several PSM waveforms were tested to evaluate their influence on the mean arterial pressure (MAP), cardiac output (CO), and AV flow for representative heart failure patients.

Targeting of intracellular oncoproteins with peptide-centric CARs.

Real-World Study to Assess Patterns of Treatment Practices and Clinical Outcomes in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer Patients with Wild-Type Left-Sided Tumours in Canada.

Minimal Canadian data are available on the RAS testing rates, treatment patterns, and corresponding overall survival (OS) in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) patients. We conducted a population-based cohort study of left-sided RAS wild-type (WT) mCRC patients diagnosed between 1 January 2014 and 31 December 2019, and who were treated with first-line (1L) chemotherapy plus the epidermal growth factor receptor inhibitor panitumumab, chemotherapy plus bevacizumab, or chemotherapy alone, in Alberta, Canada, using electronic medical records and administrative health system data. Of the 2721 patients identified with left-sided mCRC, 320 patients with RAS WT mCRC were treated with 1L systemic therapy: chemotherapy plus panitumumab (n = 64), chemotherapy plus bevacizumab (n = 52), or chemotherapy alone (n = 204).
