Structural-functional integrated polymer fibers with exciting properties are increasingly important for next-generation technologies. Herein, we report the structural-functional integrated graphene-skinned aramid fiber (GRAF) featuring high conductivity, high strength, and light weight, which is weaved for efficient electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding. Graphene was self-assembled onto the surface of aramid fibers through a dip-coating strategy using an aramid polyanion (APA) as the binder and the etchant.

Hydrogel hybrids are one of the key factors in life activities and biomimetic science; however, their development and utilization are critically impeded by their inadequate adhesive strength and intricate process. In nature, barnacles can stick to a variety of solid surfaces firmly (adhesive strength above 300 kPa) using a hydrophobic interface, which inspires us to firmly combine hydrogels and polymers through introducing an adhesive layer. In our attempts to isolate the equilibrium free fraction of -acetylgalactosamine-conjugated siRNA using classic small-molecule in vitro techniques, we found that the hydrodynamic radius was critical in determining the size exclusion limit requirements for isolation, largely validating the siRNA "rigid rod" hypothesis. With this knowledge, we developed an orthogonally validated 50 kDa molecular-mass cutoff ultrafiltration assay to quantify in biologic matrices including human, nonhuman primate, rat, and mouse plasma, and human liver homogenate.

In this work, total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy is utilized to in situ investigate the formation of nanodroplets around the rim of a polymer microcap, with sub-micron spatial and millisecond temporal resolution. We observe that the coalescence among droplets occurs frequently during their growth by solvent exchange.

This hypothesis was tested with the dopamine D1 receptor potentiator DETQ [2-(2,6-dichlorophenyl)-1-((1S,3R)-3-(hydroxymethyl)-5-(2-hydroxypropan-2-yl)-1-methyl-3,4-dihydroisoquinolin-2(1H)-yl)ethan-1-one]. In human embryonic kidney 293 (HEK293) cells expressing the human D1 receptor, DETQ induced a 21-fold leftward shift in the cAMP response to dopamine, with a K of 26 nM.
