Background: Unfractionated heparin (UFH) remains the anticoagulant of choice in critically ill patients. However, its laboratory monitoring and clinical management are particularly challenging.
Objectives: Our objective was to describe current practices and variations among centers of the ISTH.
During extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support, the high shear stress in the ECMO circuit results in increased proteolysis of von Willebrand factor (VWF), loss of VWF high-molecular-weight multimers, and impaired ability to bind to platelets and collagen. These structural changes in VWF are consistent with acquired von Willebrand syndrome (AVWS) type 2A and may contribute to the bleeding diathesis frequently observed in ECMO patients. We performed a systematic review of all clinical studies evaluating the prevalence and associated outcomes of AVWS in ECMO patients.

We performed a literature search and surveyed our SSC membership to better define the term when applied to medical and intensive care unit patients. The most common heparin dosing strategy reported in the literature (53%) and by survey respondents (80.

Background And Objectives: Ocrelizumab (OCR), a humanized anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody, is highly efficient in patients with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (RR-MS). We assessed early cellular immune profiles and their association with disease activity at treatment start and under therapy, which may provide new clues on the mechanisms of action of OCR and on the disease pathophysiology.
Methods: A first group of 42 patients with an early RR-MS, never exposed to disease-modifying therapy, was included in 11 centers participating to an ancillary study of the ENSEMBLE trial (NCT03085810) to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of OCR.
Schools have been a point of attention during the pandemic, and their closure one of the mitigating measures taken. A better understanding of the dynamics of the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in elementary education is essential to advise decisionmakers. We conducted an uncontrolled non-interventional prospective study in Belgian French-speaking schools to describe the role of attending asymptomatic children and school staff in the spread of COVID-19 and to estimate the transmission to others.

However, no study has analyzed the relationship between on-ticagrelor PR and clinical outcome in this clinical setting.
Objectives: We aimed to investigate the relationship between on-ticagrelor PR, assessed by the vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein (VASP) index, and clinical outcome in patients with ACS undergoing PCI.
Background: Percutaneous left atrial appendage closure (LAAC) exposes to the risk of device thrombosis in patients with atrial fibrillation who frequently have a contraindication to full anticoagulation. Thereby, dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) is usually preferred. No randomized study has evaluated nonvitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulant after LAAC, and we decided to evaluate the efficacy and safety of reduced doses of rivaroxaban after LAAC.
