Background And Purpose: Rescue stent (RS) is an accepted rescue option after failed mechanical thrombectomy (MT) for acute ischemic stroke due to intracranial atherosclerotic stenosis (ICAS)-related large vessel occlusion (LVO). However, the long-term outcomes (≥ 12 months) of RS have not yet been elucidated.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of 154 patients with RS for ICAS-related LVO, which were identified from prospectively maintained multicenter database of RS after MT failure, to assess good outcome (mRS 0-2), mortality, stroke recurrence, symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (SICH) and stent patency.

Background: Human papilloma virus (HPV)-positive oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) is rising in prevalence and is associated with better survival than HPV-negative OPSCC. In surgically treated HPV-negative OPSCCs, adverse pathologic features such as positive surgical margins, extra-nodal extension (ENE) and perineural invasion are well described to portend worse clinical outcomes. These adverse pathological features, however, are not validated prognostic markers among surgically treated HPV-positive OPSCCs.

Background: Chronic mental stress accelerates atherosclerosis through complicated neuroimmune pathways, needing for advanced imaging techniques to delineate underlying cellular mechanisms. While histopathology, ex vivo imaging, and snapshots of in vivo images offer promising evidence, they lack the ability to capture real-time visualization of blood cell dynamics within pulsatile arteries in longitudinal studies.
Methods: An electrically tunable lens was implemented in intravital optical microscopy, synchronizing the focal plane with heartbeats to follow artery movements.
Elemental iron powders are used as food fortificants to reduce the incidence of iron deficiency anemia. However, many commercially available iron powders are relatively untested in vivo. The purpose of this study was to determine the hemoglobin regeneration efficiency (HRE) and relative iron bioavailability (RBV) of an electrolytic elemental iron powder (EIP), by treating anemic rats with 14 d iron repletion diets fortified with four different concentrations (12, 24, 36, or 48 mg iron/kg diet) of EIP and bakery-grade ferrous sulfate monohydrate (FS; FeSO•HO), or no added iron (control); n = 9-12/group.

Process modeling has shown that the use of exogenous organic solvent in RCF is a challenge for economic and environmental feasibility, and previous works proposed that lignin oil, a mixture of lignin-derived monomers and oligomers produced by RCF, can be used as a cosolvent in RCF. Here, we further explore the potential of RCF solvent recycling with lignin oil, extending the feasible lignin oil concentration in the solvent to 100 wt %, relative to the previously demonstrated 0-19 wt % range.

The purpose of this study was to determine hemoglobin regeneration efficiency (HRE) and relative iron bioavailability (RBV) of four food-grade EIPs (El-Lyte (EL), Hi-Sol (HS), H-325 (H3), and A-131 (A1)) by treating anemic rats with 14 d iron repletion diets (uncooked and cooked), fortified with a 12, 24, or 36 mg iron/kg diet of the EIPs, ferrous sulfate monohydrate (FS, FeSO•HO), or no added iron (control), n = 9-12/group. The ability of EL and HS to maintain hemoglobin for 6 weeks on the 6 mg iron/kg diet was also studied.

Background: In early atherosclerosis, circulating LDLs (low-density lipoproteins) traverse individual endothelial cells by an active process termed transcytosis. The CANTOS trial (Canakinumab Antiinflammatory Thrombosis Outcome Study) treated advanced atherosclerosis using a blocking antibody for IL-1β (interleukin-1β); this significantly reduced cardiovascular events. However, whether IL-1β regulates early disease, particularly LDL transcytosis, remains unknown.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTwo-dimensional nanomaterials such as reduced graphene oxide (rGO) have captured significant attention in the realm of field-effect transistor (FET) sensors due to their inherent high sensitivity and cost-effective manufacturing. Despite their attraction, a comprehensive understanding of rGO-solution interfaces (specifically, electrochemical interfacial properties influenced by linker molecules and surface chemistry) remains challenging, given the limited capability of analytical tools to directly measure intricate solution interface properties. In this study, we introduce an analytical tool designed to directly measure the surface charge density of the rGO-solution interface leveraging the remote floating-gate FET (RFGFET) platform.

This study aims to assess whether the prognostic benefit of intravascular imaging-guided procedural optimization persists in patients undergoing PCI for left main coronary artery disease.
Methods: Of 1639 patients enrolled in the RENOVATE-COMPLEX-PCI, 192 patients with left main coronary artery disease were selected for the current prespecified substudy.
Targeted protein degradation (TPD) technology, such as proteolysis-targeting chimera (PROTAC), has become a new therapeutic modality. However, the degradation of undruggable proteins, such as those involved in protein-protein interactions (PPIs), using PROTAC is still limited owing to the difficulties in finding small-molecule binders of these proteins. To identify new chemical moieties that bind to the target sites of the protein of interest (POI), we conducted a site-specific and fragment-based covalent ligand screening using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
