Article Synopsis
  • Dysfunctional reward processing is linked to mental disorders like ADHD and addictions, involving brain activity during reward anticipation.
  • The study analyzed brain activity in 1,544 adolescents, identifying a network crucial for predicting outcomes and preparing responses related to rewards.
  • Specific brain nodes and connections were found to correlate with hyperactivity and alcohol use, while also revealing genetic associations that may underlie these behaviors, suggesting a neurobiological basis for the persistence of reward-related issues.
