Article Synopsis
  • A systematic literature review assessed the pharmacokinetics (PK) of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) used during pregnancy, given the limited existing information on this topic.
  • A total of 42 articles were reviewed, focusing mostly on mAbs like infliximab and adalimumab, with findings indicating that serum concentrations for most mAbs either remained stable or slightly decreased during pregnancy, while infliximab showed an increase in the second and third trimesters.
  • The study concluded that pregnancy-induced changes in the body could significantly impact mAb behavior, suggesting that higher doses may be necessary for most mAbs to maintain effective serum levels during pregnancy.
