Not as black as it is painted? The impact of the first wave of COVID-19 pandemic on surgical treatment of urological cancer patients in Poland - a cross-country experience.

Introduction: In the majority of Western European countries, the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has led to a dramatic reduction in urooncological surgeries. Our objective was to evaluate the impact of the pandemic on volume and patterns of urooncological surgery in Poland.

Material And Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of 10 urologic centres in Poland.

[Current clinical and electrophysiological methods in the assessment of dysautonomia].

The aim of study was to present clinical and electrophysiological methods of assessment of dysautonomia and to evaluate usefulness of these methods. We evaluated clinical symptoms of dysautonomia by Questionnaire of Autonomic Disorders, which allows the qualitative and quantitative analysis of clinical dysautonomia. We used two noninvasive methods of electrophysiological evaluation: R-R interval variation test (RRIV) and sympathetic skin response (SSR).

[Initial assessment of the use of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in diagnosis of tuberculosis among patients of the Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of AIDS].

This initial report on the use of PCR in diagnosis of TB was based on a group of 180 patients observed in the AIDS Diagnosis and Therapy Center in Warsaw. Out of 6 patients with positive results of PCR assay for MTB, five had positive AFB smears in induced sputum or BAL, two had positive MTB cultures. Five of them were treated with tuberculostatic drugs with clinical improvement and had negative sputum PCR MTB results after several weeks.

[The role of bronchoscopy and bronchoalveolar lavage in diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis in AIDS].
