Complement proteins contribute to neurodegeneration in Alzheimer's disease (AD) and are secreted by glia surrounding beta-amyloid (Aβ) plaques. We present an optimized protocol for Aβ plaque detection with tyramide-digoxigenin signal amplification. This is combined with a multiplex mRNA fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) panel to assay glial-specific complement expression proximal to Aβ plaques in TauPS2APP mice.

However, the precision and efficiency of editing are often compromised by bystander off-target editing. Here, we find that in 5'-UAN triplets, which dominate bystander editing, G•U wobble base pairs effectively mitigate off-target events while maintaining high on-target efficiency.

Purpose: Little is known about colorectal cancer screening in 9/11 World Trade Center (WTC)-exposed populations. We utilized survey data from the WTC Health Registry (WTCHR) to examine associations between enrollees' characteristics and colorectal cancer (CRC) screening.
Methods: We studied 22,061 enrollees aged 50-75 who completed the WTCHR follow-up survey in 2015-2016.
The supraspinal descending pain modulatory system (DPMS) shapes pain perception via monoaminergic modulation of sensory information in the spinal cord. However, the role and synaptic mechanisms of descending noradrenergic signaling remain unclear. Here, we establish that noradrenergic neurons of the locus coeruleus (LC) are essential for supraspinal opioid antinociception.

It is still unclear whether a direct relationship exists between magnetic resonance (MR) image quality metrics (IQMs) (e.g.
