Bipolar disorder (BD) is characterized by temporal instability of mood and energy, but the neural correlates of this instability are poorly understood. In previous cross-sectional studies, mood state in BD has been associated with differential functional connectivity (FC) amongst several subcortical regions and ventromedial prefrontal cortex. Here, we assess whether BD is associated with longitudinal instability within this mood-related network of interest (NOI).

MR1 is a ubiquitous molecule that presents bacterial metabolites to MAIT cells, which are highly abundant in the lungs.

Atraumatic peroneal compartment syndrome: An uncommon entity.

Peroneus longus ruptures are less common than ruptures of the peroneus brevis muscle and are seldom described in the literature. Ankle inversion injuries causing injury to the distal end of the peroneus longus muscle resulting in lateral compartment syndrome have been documented in the literature. We are presenting an unusual case of peroneal compartment syndrome with no overt ankle injury.

In brain activity mapping with optogenetics, patterned illumination is crucial for targeted neural stimulation. However, due to optical scattering in brain tissue, light-emitting implants are needed to bring patterned illumination to deep brain regions. A promising solution is silicon neural probes with integrated nanophotonic circuits that form tailored beam patterns without lenses.
