Investigating exciton formation in semiconductor materials is essential for efficient light-to-energy conversion applications. Exciton formation has been extensively studied in two-dimensional materials but is rarely observed in single quantum systems. Here, we construct one-dimensional CsPbBr quantum rods (QRs) with two confined dimensions and one unconfined dimension.

Uranium poisoning is increasingly recognized as a public health issue. Polygonatum kingianum (PK) is valued for its therapeutic properties and food applications. Original research showed PK aqueous extract (PKAE) and polysaccharides (PKP) could alleviate uranium-induced cytotoxicity in vitro.

The rapid growth of algae has significantly increased algae-derived organic matter (AOM) in surface water, and AOM has been shown to play an important role in the photosensitized degradation of emerging contaminants under natural sunlight. This study investigated the photosensitized degradation of tetracycline (TC) by different AOM, i.e.

Various methods have been explored to activate potassium permanganate (Mn(VII)) for the elimination of organic compounds, typically by generating highly-reactive manganese species (RMnS) or mediated by electron transfer process (ETP). However, the oxidation selectivity, transformation pathways, toxicity byproduct potential, and efficacy in complicated water matrices associated with RMnS and ETP have not been comprehensively evaluated and compared, which is important for selecting a fit-of-purpose mechanism for water remediation. This study selected Mn(VII)/graphite process and ultraviolet (UV)/Mn(VII) process as the model ETP-dominated system and RMnS-dominated system, respectively.

Immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a typically self-limiting and immune-mediated bleeding disorder in children. Approximately 20% of children with ITP experience chronicity, leading to reduced quality of life and increased treatment burden. The accurate prediction of chronicity would enable clinicians to make personalized treatment plans at an early stage.
