Article Synopsis
  • Immunoassays for serum alpha-gal specific IgE offer a highly sensitive and specific way to diagnose alpha-gal syndrome in over 15,000 patients.
  • Results showed that 36.7% of samples tested positive for AG-sIgE, with higher levels found in older patients and those from specific geographical areas, particularly during the latter half of the year.
  • The study indicates a link between lone star ticks and AG syndrome, highlighting the need for more refined testing methods to improve diagnosis, as AG-sIgE levels were generally higher than those for co-tested red meat allergens.

A study with 3 experiments was conducted to determine the AA digestibility and energy concentration of deoiled (solvent-extracted) corn distillers dried grains with solubles (dDGS) and to evaluate its effect on nursery pig growth performance, finishing pig growth performance, and carcass traits. In Exp. 1, a total of 5 growing barrows (initial BW = 30.

A study was conducted to determine the AA digestibility and energy concentration of a specialized high-protein corn distillers dried grains (HPC-DDG) product and a high-protein sorghum dried distillers grains with solubles (HPS-DDGS) product. Six growing barrows (BW = 22.7 kg) were surgically fitted with T-cannulas at the terminal ileum and allotted randomly to 3 treatments in a crossover design with 3 periods.
