Why I Discourage "ED Course" in Oral Patient Presentations.

Trainees frequently present data, including vital signs, laboratory test results, and imaging results, just after the history or presenting illness in a section labeled "ED Course." This practice distracts from the history and physical and decenters the patient as the most valuable source of diagnostic data. Reformatting presentations to appropriately present objective data after the complete history may improve diagnosis and refocuses attention on the patient.

A multi-site German validation of the Interoceptive Accuracy Scale and its relation to psychopathological symptom burden.

Altered interoception is thought to be implicated in the development of psychopathology. Recent proposals highlight the need to differentiate between dimensions of interoception to better understand its relation to mental health. Here, we validated a German version of the Interoceptive Accuracy Scale (IAS) and investigated the relationship between IAS scores and clinical outcomes, across seven samples from four research centers (N = 3462).

Coexistence of Light Chain and Transthyretin Cardiac Amyloidosis.

Although most patients with cardiac amyloidosis are diagnosed with either light chain (AL) or transthyretin (ATTR) disease, coexisting amyloid subtypes can occur. We present three cases of coexisting AL and ATTR cardiac amyloidosis and demonstrate the importance of clinical history and endomyocardial biopsy in diagnosis of this rare entity.

The design of functional polymers coupled with stimuli-triggered drug release mechanisms is a promising achievement to overcome various biological barriers. pH trigger methods yield significant potential for controlled targeting and release of therapeutics due to their simplicity and relevance, especially upon cell internalization. Here, we introduce reactive polymers that conjugate primary or secondary amines and release potential drugs under acidic conditions.
