Purpose Of The Study: Posterior Wallaby I is a fixed polyethylene tibial plateau prosthesis enabling preservation of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL). Its asymmetrical and divergent femoral condyles articulate with also asymmetrical tibial plateaus. The purpose of this prospective study was to analyze outcome of the first 425 Wallaby I prosthesis of the Guepar group implanted for first-intention treatment.

There were 56 primary and 15 secondary procedures. The prostheses involved a cemented titanium alloy stem, a 32 mm alumina head, and a press-fit metal-backed socket with an alumina insert.

Alumina-on-alumina bearings in THR may, in theory, provide an effective answer to osteolysis in young patients with ON of the femoral head. The purpose of this retrospective study was to report the long-term results of a series of 52 consecutive alumina THAs (41 patients) done for ON. The mean age of the patients at surgery was 41 years (range, 22-79 years).

Purpose Of The Study: Overall, the results of total knee replacement surgery are quite excellent, both with regard to pain and range of motion. Pain relief is obtained in more than 95% of the cases and more than 90% of the patients are able to bend their knee over 90 degrees. Nevertheless, in a small number of cases, stiffness can be an impairment.
