Background: Emerging evidence supports cannabidiol (CBD) as a promising therapeutic compound for various health conditions, despite its approval as a medication (product for medical purposes) remaining restricted to a limited range of clinical indications. Simultaneously, the regulation of cannabis-derived products for medicinal and recreational use has expanded their global market availability to meet local community demands. This scenario presents a complex challenge for clinicians, researchers, and industry, as the global appeal of therapeutic uses of CBD is growing more rapidly than the scientific evidence supporting its safety and effectiveness.

A clinical audit of adverse post-nephrectomy outcomes in renal cell carcinoma patients at a tertiary hospital in Queensland, Australia.

Background: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a common malignancy, and nephrectomy is the mainstay of treatment for non-metastatic disease. The choice of surgery depends on the risks of oncologic recurrence, kidney function decline, and perioperative complications. This study aimed to identify factors associated with adverse post-operative outcomes in RCC patients undergoing nephrectomy at Townsville University Hospital (TUH).

Renal artery angioplasty in Takayasu disease: Difficult anatomy addressed with a novel technique.

Takayasu arteritis is a well-established medical entity involving inflammatory changes in large arteries. We describe a characteristic case of Takayasu arteritis, in a young woman with significant renal artery stenosis, presenting with hypertensive urgency. Unsuccessful guide wire passage due to fibrotic septae in lumen of the left renal artery necessitated an innovative interventional approach, using an IMA-guide catheter and a UB3 coronary guidewire to cross the lesions, followed by placement of a coronary drug eluting stent, with an aim to avoid restenosis.

The Effect of a Nature-Based Gel on Gingival Inflammation and the Proteomic Profile of Crevicular Fluid: A Randomized Clinical Trial.

Evidence has shown the clear positive effects of nature-based products on biofilm control and improved gingival health. However, most studies have used in vitro models, have tested single natural components, or have not evaluated proteomic changes after treatment. This double-blind, parallel, randomized, and controlled clinical trial evaluated the benefits of a nature-based gel in controlling gingival inflammation and its effects on the proteomic gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) profile.
