To evaluate the current status of the diagnosis of gastrointestinal tumors in Germany by means of a survey of the oncological imaging working group of the German Radiological Society (DRG) with a focus on the CT protocols being used.Radiologists working in outpatient or inpatient care in Germany were invited. The survey was conducted between 10/2022 and 06/2023 using the SurveyMonkey web tool.

Background: Since 2003, a decline in the age-standardized incidence rates of colorectal cancer (CRC) has been observed in Germany. Nonetheless, one in eight cancer cases still affects the colon or rectum. The prognosis has improved, with the relative 5‑year survival rate for CRC being approximately 65%.

Clinical Issue: Autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) is classified as a distinct form of pancreatitis according to the guidelines. It is characterized by imaging morphologic and histologic features and is associated with extrapancreatic manifestations in type 1 IgG 4-associated disease. Symptoms and findings almost always improve with administration of steroids.
