Soft confinement of water in aliphatic alcohols: MIR/NIR spectroscopic and DFT studies.

Here, we present the first examination of the state of water under a soft confinement in eight aliphatic alcohols including cyclopentanol, 1-pentanol, 1-hexanol, 1-heptanol, 1-octanol, 1-decanol, 2-octanol and 3-octanol. Due to relatively large size of the aliphatic part, water has limited solubility in all studied alcohols. Water content in saturated solutions was determined by Karl Fischer titration and correlated with the spectroscopic data.

Virtual Reality-Induced Modification of Vestibulo-Ocular Reflex Gain in Posturography Tests.

: The aim of the study was to demonstrate the influence of virtual reality (VR) exposure on postural stability and determine the mechanism of this influence. : Twenty-six male participants aged 21-23 years were included, who underwent postural stability assessment twice before and after a few minute of single VR exposure. The VR projection was a computer-generated simulation of the surrounding scenery.

Investigations Concerning the Influence of Sleep Disorders on Postural Stability in Young Men.

Lack of sleep is a factor that disrupts the receptors' reception of information from the environment and contributes to the emergence of problems with maintaining balance. The main aim of the study was to determine whether sleep disorders affect postural stability in young men. The study participants were 76 male students who were divided into groups with good and poor sleep quality.

The perceived work environment and well-being: A survey of emergency health care workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, health care provider well-being was affected by various challenges in the work environment. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the perceived work environment and mental well-being of a sample of emergency physicians (EPs), emergency medicine (EM) nurses, and emergency medical services (EMS) providers during the pandemic.

Methods: We surveyed attending EPs, resident EPs, EM nurses, and EMS providers from 10 academic sites across the United States.

Background: During the COVID-19 pandemic, a substantial number of emergency health care workers (HCWs) have screened positive for anxiety, depression, risk of posttraumatic stress disorder, and burnout. The purpose of this qualitative study was to describe the impact of COVID-19 on emergency care providers' health and well-being using personal perspectives. We conducted in-depth interviews with emergency physicians, emergency medicine nurses, and emergency medical services providers at 10 collaborating sites across the United States between September 21, 2020, and October 26, 2020.
