Type 2 diabetes: a sacrifice program handling energy surplus.

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is closely associated with obesity, while interactions between the two diseases remain to be fully elucidated. To this point, we offer this perspective to introduce a set of new insights into the interpretation of T2DM spanning the etiology, pathogenesis, and treatment approaches. These include a definition of T2DM as an energy surplus-induced diabetes characterized by the gradual decline of β cell insulin secretion function, which ultimately aims to prevent the onset of severe obesity through mechanisms of weight loss.

Development and application of an efficient, accurate, and environmentally friendly liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method for the determination of five Alternaria toxins in wheat.

The contamination of Alternaria toxins poses a potential risk to human health. This study developed a rapid, efficient, and environmentally friendly method for the simultaneous determination of five types of Alternaria toxins in wheat using high-precision and stable isotope liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. The comparison between dilution method and solid-phase extraction method shows that the former achieves satisfactory results with a simple and convenient sample purification method.

Identification and validation of BATF as a prognostic biomarker and regulator of immune cell infiltration in acute myeloid leukemia.

Background: Basic leucine zipper ATF-like transcription factor (BATF) is a nuclear basic leucine zipper protein affiliated with the AP-1/ATF superfamily. Previous research has confirmed that BATF expression plays a significant role in the tumour microenvironment. However, the associations between BATF expression and prognoses in acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) patients and their immunological effects remain unclear.
