The Emerging Leaders in Public Health Initiative: Individual Leadership Transformation.

The Emerging Leaders in Public Health (ELPH) Initiative, sponsored by The Kresge Foundation, provided leadership development to local governmental public health leaders. An adaptive leadership framework was used to shape the curriculum. The coleads attended multiday convenings and webinars over a 16- to 18-month period.

Generation of LexA enhancer-trap lines in Drosophila by an international scholastic network.

Conditional gene regulation in Drosophila through binary expression systems like the LexA-LexAop system provides a superb tool for investigating gene and tissue function. To increase the availability of defined LexA enhancer trap insertions, we present molecular, genetic, and tissue expression studies of 301 novel Stan-X LexA enhancer traps derived from mobilization of the index SX4 line. This includes insertions into distinct loci on the X, II, and III chromosomes that were not previously associated with enhancer traps or targeted LexA constructs, an insertion into ptc, and seventeen insertions into natural transposons.

Objective: The Emerging Leaders in Public Health Initiative, a program of The Kresge Foundation, was implemented to strengthen leadership in governmental public health. We seek to examine lessons from the initiative to contribute to the field a better understanding of leadership development practices.

Testing for Prohibited Substances in Rural Agricultural Show Exhibits: A Twenty-Three Year Experience.

The administration of prohibited substances has been used in agricultural show competitions and animal racing industries to gain unfair competitive advantages. We report the first large prospectively designed descriptive study of drug testing in four species (n = 1,598) over a 23 year period. 4.
