Background: Smoking rates have declined markedly in Australia over time; however, lesbian, bisexual and queer (LBQ) women continue to smoke at higher rates than heterosexual women. Understanding the factors influencing smoking in this population is crucial for developing targeted cessation interventions and other supports.
Methods: Experiences of and motivations for smoking among 42 LBQ cisgender and transgender women and non-binary people in Australia who currently or previously smoked were explored through semi-structured interviews.
Peer support services for people living with HIV (PLHIV) serve varying functions and are a unique resource for support. Peer support programs are considered an important strategy for achieving better quality of life (QoL) for PLHIV and there has been substantial investment in provision of such programs. The present study asks whether being connected to other PLHIV is associated with better QoL for PLHIV in Australia and; whether involvement in formal peer support programs is associated with QoL among people newly diagnosed with HIV.

Advances in domain tasks such as automated diagnosis and classification, synthesis of high-volume data and latent data from adjacent modalities, patient discovery, telemedicine, remote monitoring, augmented reality, and in silico modelling have the potential to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness of cardiovascular clinical trials. However, early experience with these tools has also exposed important issues, including regulatory barriers, clinical validation and acceptance, technological literacy, integration with care models, and health equity concerns.
