The detection and assessment of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular calcification can inform risk stratification and therapies to reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. In this review, we provide an overview of current and emerging imaging techniques for assessing atherosclerosis and cardiovascular calcification in animal models. Traditional imaging modalities, such as computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), offer non-invasive approaches of visualizing atherosclerotic calcification in vivo; integration of these techniques with positron emission tomography (PET) imaging adds molecular imaging capabilities, such as detection of metabolically active microcalcifications with F-sodium fluoride.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) pose a significant health burden in China, where the large population and vast geography limit access to care. Telehealth (tHealth) services provide a virtual model of care that can enhance CVD management. This study aims to describe the trajectory of tHealth services for cardiovascular care between 2016 and 2020 in China, assess their utilization, and discuss their implications for improving access to care in resource-scarce regions.

In surgical stabilization of rib fractures (SSRF), the current standard relies on preoperative CT imaging and often incorporates ultrasound (US) imaging. As an alternative, mixed reality (MR) technology holds promise for improving rib fracture localization. This study presents an MR-based visualization system designed for SSRF in a clinical setting.

Purpose: To determine the outcomes of sickle cell retinopathy (SCR) patients who experienced at least one episode of being lost to follow-up (LTFU) compared to those who attended all appointments.

Methods: Adult SCR patients who visited Wills Eye Hospital Retina service (January 2012-December 2021) with >2 visits were reviewed for LTFU events, defined as failure to return for a follow-up appointment within 6 months of the scheduled date.

Results: One hundred and eighty-one eyes of 94 patients were included.

Institutions of higher education play a major role in teaching undergraduate students. Historically, most courses have been taught by tenure-track (TT) faculty who may also be responsible for research or scholarly activities. However, a recent shift from "teaching-intensive" TT faculty to "teaching-only" contingent faculty off the tenure track has highlighted the importance of understanding the experiences of contingent faculty.
