Fear avoidance (FA) describes beliefs and behaviors related to avoiding movements or activities after a painful event. FA is a prevalent issue that limits the recovery outcomes and social reintegration of burn survivors. However, as current literature focuses on chronic conditions, understanding the impact and treatment of FA within sudden onset musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions, specifically in the burn survivor population, is lacking.

We expand traditional multiomic measurements to reveal epigenetically poised and bivalent active transcriptional enhancer states that define cell type specification. Simultaneous detection of chromatin accessibility and histone modifications in spinal cord nuclei reveals previously unobserved cell-type specific cryptic enhancer activity, in which transcriptional activation is uncoupled from chromatin accessibility.

These species can cause infections in both immunocompetent and immunocompromised individuals. The current detection methods are limited, prompting the need for rapid and specific diagnostic tools.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFunctional genomics with libraries of knockout alleles is limited to non-essential genes and convoluted by the potential accumulation of suppressor mutations in knockout backgrounds, which can lead to erroneous functional annotations. To address these limitations, we constructed genome-wide libraries of conditional alleles based on the auxin-inducible degron (AID) system for inducible degradation of AID-tagged proteins in the budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae. First, we determined that N-terminal tagging is at least twice as likely to inadvertently impair protein function across the proteome.
